It's Official - Ryan Reynolds is Hal Jordan in Green Lantern!
Barely a few hours earlier, we reported that the list of actors in the running for the role of Hal Jordan in the upcoming Green Lantern movie had been narrowed down to three - Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds and Justin Timberlake. Variety and THR have both confirmed that it's Ryan Reynolds who has ended up in the role, making him the only male actor to play both a Marvel (as Deadpool) and DC Comics superhero. This ends the "intense months-long search" that was conducted by Warner Brothers, director Martin Campbell, and producers Donald De Line and Greg Berlanti, as they couldn't come to an agreement until today.

Official US Trailer for Audrey Tautou's Coco Before Chanel
When I was in France for Cannes, this film was showing in theaters, and I really want to see it, but it wasn't subtitled in English. Sony Pictures Classics has debuted the official US trailer for Coco Before Chanel on Apple recently. Audrey Tautou stars as legendary fashion designer Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel. The film portrays the formative years of Chanel's life, the years she spent discovering and inventing herself. This looks quite exquisite and fascinating and although I wouldn't expect to normally be into this, I am looking forward to seeing it, if at the very least to appreciate yet another brilliant performance from Audrey Tautou.

Their keynote presentation is a special TMNT panel on Friday, July 24th featuring a lot of big names - creator Kevin Eastman, Mirage Studios CEO Gary Richardson, director of the original TMNT movies Steve Barron, and producers Galen Walker and Scott Mednick. Listed last is John Fusco, whose title is "writer of the new TMNT movie (slated for 2011)." Looks like they finally have a writer!

The Wolf Man Reshoots Were to Revise the Werewolf Dynamics?
Back in early May, we ran an article about Joe Johnston's The Wolf Man going back for extensive reshoots to add more action. We didn't know much about what was going on, except that Universal had pushed the release back an entire seven months and seemed to be sparing no expense on these new scenes. However, a new report from England's The Daily Mail (via SlashFilm) not only confirms the reshoots, but claims that they were made because the dynamics of the werewolf bad been tweaked. Originally, it walked upright on its hind two legs, like a human, but now he'll be attack from all fours, like an actual wolf. Interesting change.

Who Will Be Green Lantern: Cooper, Reynolds, Timberlake?
Just choose someone already, damnit! We've been running rumors about Green Lantern casting for quite a long time now. And they still haven't found their guy! However, THR has just published an article looking at their top three choices: Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds and Justin Timberlake. We actually first heard that rumor about JT the other night on Ain't It Cool News, but I just couldn't believe it, and was waiting for further confirmation. This is it. Our guess is that Warner Brothers wants an answer from Martin Campbell so that they can announce it officially during Comic-Con - which is in only two more weeks. So?

First Look: Wes Anderson's Version on Fantastic Mr. Fox
I know you may be thinking, why do we need a first look at this? But trust me, once you see this little photo, you'll understand why. JoBlo has scored the first look at the family from Wes Anderson's stop animation adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic Fantastic Mr. Fox. In retrospect, this seems a bit like Fox's attempt to mimic Warner Bros' Where the WIld Things Are - it's an adaptation of a beloved children's book with a very unique director and an unusual style. That said, I still like the look of this quite a bit. This photo is way too small to really get anything good from it, but my initial impressions are leaning towards the positive side!

Todd Phillips Lines Up Due Date and Hangover 2 with Galifianakis
Comedy director Todd Phillips must really be riding a high right now. His latest film, The Hangover, is easily the sleeper hit of the summer, with an impressive $210 million earned at the box office so far. Variety just published an article looking at what's up next for him (and his enormous new salary), and thankfully he's already got it sorted out. Phillips will next direct the road trip comedy Due Date and follow that one year later with The Hangover 2. Stand-up comic turned actor Zach Galifianakis is already set to star in Due Date and will most likely return for The Hangover 2, making him and Phillips quite good buddies.

Zooey Deschanel Joins David Gordon Green's Your Highness
Zooey Deschanel and Natalie Portman are starring in a stoner comedy together?! I think I'm going to faint! Deschanel is the latest to join the cast of the dragon slaying period comedy Your Highness being directed by David Gordon Green that starts shooting this month in Ireland. Danny McBride stars as an arrogant, lazy prince named Thadeous who must complete a quest to save his father's kingdom. Joining him on the quest is his more heroic brother, played by James Franco, and Belladonna, Franco's "virginal bride," played by Deschanel. Natalie Portman is also on board to play McBride's love interest, a warrior princess.

Jodie Foster to Direct and Mel Gibson to Star in The Beaver?!
Forget Steve Carell, this is all about The Colonel! THR reports tonight that Jodie Foster and Mel Gibson are in talks to join the indie comedy The Beaver about a man who wears a beaver puppet on his hand that he treats as a real person. Additionally, Foster, who last directed Home for the Holidays in 1995, is in negotiations to direct this as well. Last year it was announced that Carell was interested in the project, but he eventually passed; same with Jim Carrey who showed interested in May. Now it looks like Gibson, who is making quite a return to acting, might land the role. Gibson and Foster last starred together in Maverick.

Megan Fox's Hot Poster for Diablo Cody's Jennifer's Body
I already know that every guy out there is going to say how hot this poster is (thanks to Bloody Disgusting). Sure, Megan Fox looks pretty damn hot in that schoolgirl outfit all airbrushed to perfection, but it's just a damn cheesy poster right down to that stupid hand sticking out of the desk. Earlier in the week we featured the trailer for Jennifer's Body, which stars Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried. I'm actually looking forward to this but this is just a trashy poster design to get teens with the hots for Fox into theaters. It's a sly tactic that will probably work to their advantage, but that doesn't make this a good poster. But that's just me!

Aaron Sorkin Goes to Bat for Sony, Takes the Moneyball Pitch
Apparently this game is going to last more than just 9 innings. THR says that Sony is bringing on Aaron Sorkin (Charlie Wilson's War, The Social Network) to write a new version of Moneyball for the studio after the Steven Soderbergh version of it fell apart in the last few weeks. The studio wants to move forward quickly with the new iteration of the baseball drama, with Sorkin set to turn in his draft as soon as August. Brad Pitt is still attached to star as Oakland A's general manager Billy Beane, but Soderbergh "is not involved in the film in any capacity," as we reported. So are they close to finding a new director, too?

The Foot Clan is Returning for the New Live-Action TMNT!
Oh hell yes! Early this morning I was sent an email from a reader with a link to an article at a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles blog called GoGreenMachine.org. The post includes details about an open casting call in Hollywood for martial arts experts to audition for "the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, hitting theatres in 2011. We will select the best from the auditions to be a part of the stealth TMNT nemesis, the Foot Clan." Wait, what, the notorious Foot Clan is coming back for that upcoming live-action movie!? As a big TMNT geek, this is just plain awesome to hear! Too bad I'm not a martial arts expert.
