Producers Promise a Dark Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie
From their beginnings as a comic, through the years of video games and cartoons, various iterations of movies, and the amazing toy lines that have been produced, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have always had a soft spot in many people's hearts. This year at Comic-Con marks the 25th anniversary of the TMNT, and the progression towards what fans really want in a new Turtles movie appears to be on the horizon. I was fortunate enough to be at the TMNT panel this afternoon, and we were able to get an early feel for what the new TMNT live-action film currently being written by John Fusco will be all about.

Wanted 2 Starts Shooting Soon, But Who is Coming Back?
The one-and-only Timur Bekmambetov has showed up a few panels during Comic-Con this week, and therefore some exciting updates on Wanted 2 have arrived. First off, SuperHeroHype reported that Mark Millar said the script was completed and they're starting shooting in eight weeks, though they later found out that this meant they were just going into pre-production in eight weeks. We already know that James McAvoy is back as Wesley Gibson, but in case there was any hesitation, Timur confirmed during the panel for Shane Acker's 9 today that he is back and and that they're preparing to shoot in the next few months.

David Cronenberg Leaves Matarese Circle to Make Cosmopolis
Auteur David Cronenberg has announced that his next film will be an adaptation of Don DeLillo's novel "Cosmopolis" instead of the Robert Ludlum movie The Matarese Circle. That previous project was set to go into production soon as well, but the THR report on this news says that they'll "start shooting in 2010 in New York and Toronto." Yet to be cast, the story in "Cosmopolis" revolves around the 28-year-old billionaire named Eric Packer who crosses the whole of Manhattan in a stretch limo just for a haircut. It sounds like an interesting story, now it's just a matter of finding the right actor for the film. Read on for more details.

Disney Says Pirates of the Caribbean 4 Also Shooting Next Year
So apparently there's something going on in San Diego this weekend called Comic-Con. Whatever that is. But there sure does seem to be a lot of news spewing forth from its sweaty, crowded depths. ComingSoon sat down with Disney's Head of Production Oren Aviv yesterday to talk about, among other things, the fourth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. And the news is very good. "We're going to shoot Pirates 4 in April and May of next year," Aviv said. "We are going to release it hopefully in 2011." Pirates 4 would "hopefully be the first of another trilogy," he says, and would be shot by itself, not back-to-back again.

No Halo Movie from Neill Blomkamp Even if He's Offered It?
As we've often mentioned in relation to District 9 these last few months, my feeling was that this would be director Neill Blomkamp's movie to prove that he is a great director so that Microsoft would let him make the Halo movie. But it turns out, thanks to a recent interview with SlashFilm, that it's actually the other way around - since that movie all fell apart this is what he moved on to next. But would he still do a Halo movie? "The rumors are completely wrong…The answer is, I probably wouldn't do Halo if it was offered to me. But creatively, I would like to do it. It's kind of like I'd be sad to not work on it, but I would still say no."

Gary Oldman Says the Next Batman is Shooting Next Year?!
So don't take this and run with it, but Gary Oldman, who plays Commissioner Gordon, just told fans in Hall H at Comic-Con that the next Batman movie will begin shooting next year. This is the first we've ever heard of this and I think he's jumping the gun a bit and being too hopeful. He didn't say anything else besides that it would be shooting next year (and he wasn't being skeptical - this was a for sure statement). Though he did say, "you didn't hear it from me." As we know, Christopher Nolan is currently shooting Inception, which is scheduled for release next July 16th. But will the script even be ready to go by then?

Must Watch: Red Band Hot Tub Time Machine Trailer Hits!
Oh hell yes! Another surprise trailer debut that I wasn't expecting to see for a while. ComingSoon has an awesome new red band teaser trailer for Hot Tub Time Machine Trailer starring John Cusack, Craig Robinson, Rob Corddry, and Clark Duke. This is short 'n sweet and yet brilliant all at the same time - so make sure you watch it. It's worth it for the crazy Terminator time travel shenanigans that Craig Robinson spews at the very end of the trailer. This is something I've been anxious to see since I first heard about the concept - and this trailer definitely lives up to my nearly non-existent early expectations. So check it out!

Flynn's Arcade is in San Diego - Amazing Tron Legacy Viral!
While I got to see footage from James Cameron's Avatar, Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass, and Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland today, my favorite part of the day had to be the awesome viral ARG (alternate reality game) for Tron Legacy, as it's now known (instead of just Tron 2), that I participated in tonight. We've been covering the early details but it all came together tonight in the ultimate reveal - Flynn's Arcade exists and you can even play Space Paranoids the game. And if that wasn't enough, hidden in a secret room in the back was an actual new lightcycle from the movie. But you have to hear about how we got there, first!

Could Quentin Tarantino End Up Shooting a Western Next?
Everything regarding Quentin Tarantino is a bit hazy right now, as he's just finishing up Inglourious Basterds and still only talking about working on that and even prequels and sequels from that same movie. But that doesn't mean Empire can't ask him about what he might be up to next as he was walking the red carpet at the London premiere of Basterds. "Well I still want to do a western, I haven't done a western yet. I keep flirting about with it, but I haven't done it yet," he told them. Not so fast, though. "Well I won't be able to do anything in ten months from now, because I don't even know what the next movie's gonna be."

Mildly Exciting Teaser Trailer for Saw VI Lands Online
Can you really believe they're already up to the sixth Saw movie?! Justin.tv debuted the first rather mild teaser trailer for Saw VI online earlier today. While it doesn't show much and chooses to go down the completely CGI route (for the most part), we do at least get a sense of the kind of trap they've put together for this one. "6 Chances, 6 Lessons, 6 Choices." If you saw that teaser poster we posted a few days ago, that trap that those 6 people are attached to is shown in this (albeit very briefly). Other than that, I will admit that I am excited to see this next one, they always get me with trailers like this. Check this out below!

More Posters: Jonah Hex, Cabin in the Woods, Solomon Kane
The first day of Comic-Con has, remarkably, come to a close, but that doesn't mean there is still plenty more for all of you to see. Because I was stuck in Hall H all day watching panels every day, I didn't have the chance to snap some new photos of various posters and more that's out there. So I've turned to a few of my colleagues and decided to feature these new posters. First up, we've got the official poster for Jonah Hex, as debuted by ShockTillYouDrop. Up next is a similarly designed poster for Solomon Kane from FSR. And lastly, three new posters for Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard's Cabin in the Woods hit on UGO tonight.

First Teaser Trailer for The Hughes Brother's The Book of Eli
And I thought we'd seen everything today! Apple has just debuted the first teaser trailer for The Book of Eli starring Denzel Washington and Gary Oldman. This actually looks a lot better than I was expecting. For some odd reason, I had my doubts about this, but this teaser trailer proves that I was wrong - this looks awesome. Definitely excited for the return of the grungy, gritty post-apocalyptic movie! I mean, they've got guys fighting with chainsaws, that is just badass. Anyway, I've said enough, I think a few of you might be very impressed by this as well. The Hughes Brothers have really stepped up their game over the last 9 years.
