ENJOY THE SHOW

Avatar Day is August 21st - 15 Minutes in Theaters for Free! Updated!

Avatar

At the very highly anticipated presentation for James Cameron's Avatar this afternoon at Comic-Con, the master filmmaker himself announced an unprecedented marketing campaign unlike anything you've ever seen before - which is just like what you'll see on the screen that very day. On August 21st, Fox will take over "as many" IMAX 3D and digital 3D theaters as they can and screen 15 minutes from Avatar for free to whoever wants to see it. He's been waiting to show the world what this looks like and this is the perfect way to introduce everyone to Pandora. Having just seen footage, I can assure you, you won't want to miss this!

Must Watch: Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland First Trailer

Alice in Wonderland Trailer

Even though this teaser trailer leaked out early yesterday, Disney has put out the official, improved version today via The Mad Hatter's Facebook page. Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland stars Mia Wasikowska as Alice as well as Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman, Anne Hathaway, Michael Sheen, Stephen Fry, and many more talented actors. As I said yesterday, I'm not exactly that fond of the look of this, but maybe I just needed to see it in high quality (and I also saw this in 3D earlier today and it looked great). Even if you've already seen the leaked version, I suggest you check this out again, as it's refreshing to see it in high quality.

Comic-Con 2009 Live: James Cameron Presents Avatar

Avatar

This is the moment we've all been waiting for and it's 10 years in the making. James Cameron is coming to Comic-Con to finally present the first ever glimpse at Avatar, his first movie since Titanic in 1997. We obviously won't be able to take any photos or really explain in complete detail any of what we're about to see, but we'll do our best to provide some quotes from Cameron and our own reaction to what we're shown. With that introduction, let's get on with this, as we're waiting for the panel to start and things to kick off. Follow on below as we live blog the panel and head directly into a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Read on!

Bob $tencil at Comic-Con 2009: Flying His Way to San Diego

Bob Stencil - Plane

Given that Comic-Con only kicked off last night (and we're in the thick of the first day today), Bob Stencil doesn't have any good footage to share with everyone yet (although there is some controversy brewing around Twilight). In place of that, Bob wanted me to share with you this video of him flying his way into San Diego. You might not know, but Bob Stencil once flew airplanes for Braniff International before they went bankrupt in 1982. Stay tuned as this is only just a tease - since we have plenty of Comic-Con footage to share with you starting later tonight. But in the meantime, you might as well fire this video up and enjoy!

Robert Zemeckis Says Roger Rabbit Will Be 2D in Any Sequel

Roger Rabbit

Does anyone remember that article back in May that said Robert Zemeckis was interested in bringing Roger Rabbit back in some way (maybe even a sequel)? If not, you can read the details on that here and get caught up first. Two updates have arrived today on that front, the first from Ain't It Cool News and the second from Disney's Comic-Con presentation this morning where Zemeckis was present. First off, in regards to Bob Hoskins returning as Eddie Valiant, he said: "He loves Eddie Valiant and he would love to do it. We talk about it and it's something we are thinking about." So it sounds like it's still going to happen.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura is Talking About Transformers 3 Already

Transformers

Well, given its been a month, I suppose it's time to talk about Transformers 3. As you all know, I wasn't too thrilled with Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, but my opinions and the scathing critical response haven't changed the fact that the "film" has made over three-quarters of a billion dollars worldwide. IGN recently sat down with producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura to discuss just what's to come of Transformers 3 and, as expected, he didn't reveal a whole lot since they're still stuffing their pockets with the box office earnings. Even still, Transformers 3 is coming whether you like it or not - it's just a question of when.

Comic-Con 2009 Live: Disney's Live-Action 3D Panel

Walt Disney Studios

It's time to get this show the road! We're back once again for another series of live-blogging presentations here in Hall H, so let's get underway. The first panel today on Thursday is for Disney's Live-Action 3D presentation which includes Robert Zemeckis' A Christmas Carol, Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, and Tron 2. Of course, the first big change this year is that the entire hall has been converted to 3D. And we were given Dolby Digital 3D glasses and a Flynn's Arcade Tron coin on our way in. And with that, our host takes the Patton Oswalt, to walk us through the latest Disney magic. Let's fire this up - follow our updates below!

So Now We Know What Universal's Asteroids Movie is About

Universal - Asteroids

We've all scoffed at the prospect of Universal's plans to turn the classic arcade game Asteroids into a movie. But when IGN caught up with producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, he had some interesting things to say regarding the 2D triangle and polygonal blobs. "It's funny because people say there's nothing in the game, but that's not entirely right," he said. "I was attracted to Asteroids, plain and simple, because I think what it tells you is that there's going to be this big thing in space. We've crafted a really strong, deep mythology for the thing." Di Bonaventura goes on to explain the story that they came up with for this.

Must Watch: First Insanely Awesome Ninja Assassin Trailer!

Ninja Assassin Trailer

Awesome! The first official trailer for James McTeigue's Ninja Assassin has finally debuted today on MTV. You need to drop everything and watch this - it's one of those kind of trailers. Yes it's stylized and probably not for everyone, but if you love ninjas at all, you'll love this. Let me remind you this is from the same guy who brought us the brilliant V for Vendetta. It stars Korean pop star Rain and also co-stars Naomie Harris and Rick Yune. From the looks of this trailer, the story may be the weakest element, but considering we don't often seen awesome ninja action like this, I think I'll forget that and just enjoy it!

Flynn Lives - Tron 2 Viral Kicks Off in San Diego Tonight

Tron 2 Viral

Just a few days ago we mysteriously received two tokens for Flynn's Arcade and we followed the start of what promises to be a great viral and ARG for Disney's upcoming Tron 2. Throughout that afternoon on Tuesday, we followed the clues and uncovered the phrase "Flynn Lives" (which seems to be a bigger part of this) and a series of interesting websites: flynnlives.com and homeoftron.com. If you click on the bouncing spider icon at the bottom of the Flynn Lives site, you'll see a countdown. It expires at 9:30PM on Thursday and has now been updated with a meet-up location in San Diego. Looks like something big kicks off tonight!

Frank Miller's 300 Sequel is Nearly Finished, But What's Next?

David Wenham in 300

We published an update from Zack Snyder on the in-development sequel to 300 nearly a month back. We know that Frank Miller has been writing a completely new sequel and the Risky Biz Blog now reports that he has "recently completed a draft" of that graphic novel. They also say that no screenwriter and no director has officially signed on yet, not even Zack Snyder. But of course, he's never really said that he's for sure returning, but it sounds like he wants to be involved in some way (since 300 was his big break). The success of 300 sparked a new sword-and-sandals trend in Hollywood, but will the sequel be too much?

The Green Hornet's Black Beauty Unveiled at Comic-Con

The Green Hornet's Black Beauty

You might have noticed the first photo in my preview night photo feature earlier tonight was a shot of The Green Hornet car covered up by a sheet. Well, later in the night, apparently at an event that Sony didn't want me at (don't ask me why?), Seth Rogen and Michel Gondry appeared in person to unveil the Green Hornet's Black Beauty to a small group of press. Alas, since I wasn't there, I'm going to have to rely on the photos and videos from MTV and SuperHeroHype, which are ultimately pretty low quality. But anyway, you can check out some shots of their car below, which features two gatling guns mounted on the hood of it.
