Magnolia has finally debuted an official theatrical trailer for Guillermo Arriaga's The Burning Plain starring Charlize Theron, Kim Basinger, and Jennifer Lawrence. We previously featured a trailer for The Burning Plain once before (watch it here), but this one is the official US trailer that's actually cut to suit US audiences. I'm featuring this today because I actually think it's a very well-made trailer and I'm honestl more interested in seeing this based on this trailer alone. This has been showing at film festivals for a few years and although doesn't have the best reviews, I'm still hoping to check it out once it hits theaters.

The Burning Plain is both written and directed by Mexican filmmaker Guillermo Arriaga, who worked with and wrote Alejandro González Iñárritu's trilogy of Amores Perros, 21 Grams, and Babel, as well as the screenplays for The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada and The Night Buffalo. The film first premiered at the Venice Film Festival late last year and has played at other major film festivals ever since then. Magnolia Pictures will be bringing The Burning Plain to very limited theaters starting on September 18th this year.

Well this seems to be done the same way as Babel. Three people, who somehow probably(?) are connected and we see the stories and its so heart breaking and blablabla. Bit dejavu, isnt it?
Sounds like a class drama anyways… Not my cup of tea though.

This was released here in the UK on DVD about a month ago??? What is going on with the distribution at the moment? We aren't getting 'The Collector' here as far as I can tell and District 9 is on a limited run at select cinemas from the end of august??? I don't have an interest in this movie but have to feel sorry for our cousins on the other side of the pond.
On a side issue regarding US-UK and UK-US distribution, You want to take a look at the list of NTSC vs PAL Super Nintendo Games? I'm confused too. Oh well

I met Arriaga last semester at my university and he talked about this film. From the way he spoke about it, with excitement and confidence, I want to see this movie very badly.

I saw this movie. Its not as hard to follow as some of his other movies. I think this one deals more on the guilt a person can feel when they do something that affects their family. The guilt that sometimes never goes away. I recomend this movie to everone. Give it a chance!

This movie reminds me of the film Around the Bend, in that it looks like it'll be about two mothers and two daughters (it looks like), and their relationships with each other and how they all affect their other lives as well.
I'm definitely interested in seeing this.

Nah, no thanks. Didn't like 21 Grams, either. I like "heavy" movies just fine, this guy just tries too hard.
