Save the Date: August 21st - Inception Trailer is Coming!
August 10, 2009
Source: JoBlo
by Alex Billington
Wow, August 21st is going to be one hell of a day! Not only does Quentin Tarantino's long-awaited WWII epic Inglourious Basterds finally hit theaters. Not only will James Cameron finally unveil the trailer and 15 minutes of footage from Avatar in theaters worldwide. But the first trailer for Christopher Nolan's new movie Inception will debut as well. JoBlo was the first to discover that an Inception trailer would be showing in front of Basterds, however I've confirmed separately that this is accurate and it will be out then. Normally I wouldn't even write about this kind of news, but man, August 21st is going to be a great day!
Now the thing is, we don't know if this will be just a teaser or a full-length trailer or something else, but I'm expecting the former. The first teaser for The Dark Knight (which hit in July of 2007) featured nothing more than a logo flying towards the screen and a voiceover. Sure it was an awesome voiceover and the trailer made everyone very excited, but there was still no footage in it. However, the difference between these two movies is that Inception is a completely original idea, they can't just reveal a logo and except everyone to be excited, so I've got a feeling there might be some footage in it. So save the date, August 21st is the day!

I'm pretty sure it's going to be a pathetic teaser trailer that will show us nothing from the movie save for two images and maybe some voiceover. Like the Dark Knight trailer from two years ago. Besides, aren't they still shooting Inception? How much did they manage to put together, how many effects shots did they manage to complete?

I'd like to think it could be one of those old-school teasers, with specially shot footage rather than snippets from the unfinished movie, but it probably won't be.

I'll make sure I get done with the concession stand in good time to catch this trailer!
BTW, very curious where you guys grabbed that pic of DiCaprio, Nolan, and Watanabe San from…pretty awesome!

Hopefully they realize it needs to be a good teaser with some substance in order for it to gain any attention over what will be happening with Avatar.
The Avatar stuff seems like it will be the big reveal of the movie, what it's about, the SFX and so forth, so in order to not get lost it had better be universally good, not just good for those of us who appreciate Nolan's work beyond that of the Batman films.

Very excited. I'm expecting that they show some footage much like they did with Batman Begins. Besides, it's called a TEASER, I seem to recall that The Dark Knight's teaser still got everyone mega-excited.

Roberto Dinamite:
Here's the cast so far: Leonardo DiCaprio, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Ellen Page, Cillian Murphy, Michael Caine, Ken Watanabe, Tom Hardy, Tom Berenger.
That photo is indeed from a Japanese newspaper. It was from the article announcing that filming had begun in Japan back in June.

Solid cast right there…won't expect less from Nolan. It's quite amusing how DiCaprio and Watanabe San have similar skin tones in the picture, then Nolan just stands out with his keeps it realz English bloke skin tone. lol…luv it!

#14 That's one reason why I think it would be nice if there was a specially designed teaser, with footage shot solely for that as opposed to anything that will actually be in the film. Keeps the mystery of the real movie intact, and gives a sense of occasion to the whole thing, too. Doesn't happen often anymore, sadly.
