Robert Rodriguez' Nerverackers Pulled from Dimension's Line-Up

Remember that sci-fi action movie Robert Rodriguez had coming up next called Nerverackers? Well unfortunately it sounds like its been put on the backburner. Bloody-Disgusting is reporting that Dimension Films has taken the project off of their release slate, which actually isn't a big surprise. It was originally scheduled to hit theaters on April 16th of 2010, only 8 months from now. But considering we haven't heard any casting news or other updates since everything first hit in February, and instead we've only heard details on Machete, Predators, and even The Jetsons, it looks like Nerverackers won't be happening anytime soon.
Set in 2085, the story in Nerverackers centered on a character named Joe Tezca who is part of an elite unit dispatched to put an end to a crime wave in a theoretically perfect future society. Dimension Films is the producing arm of The Weinstein Company, who isn't in the best financial situation at the moment. And a sci-fi film isn't cheap to make (unless you're Duncan Jones or Neill Blomkamp). It sounds like they just couldn't get it going as quickly as they wanted. Rodriguez is co-directing Machete and producing Predators coming up, and his line-up includes so many other projects, that he could've setup anything in 2010 instead.
This is a bit unfortunate to hear, but it could always pop up again sometime in the future. Maybe they just realized April of 2010 was an unachievable release date and it's just delayed until later in 2010 or 2011. Who knows? All I know is someone better ask Rodriguez what the heck is up, because I was quite excited for it!
