They Cast Movies, Don't They? - Jon Heder and Maggie Q
August 13, 2009
by Brandon Lee Tenney
A quick casting update - and no, Jon Heder and Maggie Q are not starring in the same film. Up first is Jon Heder who will star in the adaptation of the sci-fi novel "Buddy Holly is Alive and Well on Ganymede." According to Variety, Heder will be playing Oliver Vale, your everyday geek who just so happens to be the only one who understands why Buddy Holly turns up on every TV channel - and is being pursued by a mob of aliens. Up next is Maggie Q - oh, sweet Maggie Q - who joins the cast of Priest. We first wrote about the TokyoPop vampire property that Screen Gems is developing with Paul Bettany set to star back in March.
Well, Maggie Q is now attached to Priest and set to join Bettany and Cam Gigandet according to THR. For the uninitiated, Priest is a horror western to be directed by Scott Stewart (of Legion) that's et in a world destroyed by a war between vampires and man. Bettany is a warrior priest on a mission to hunt a blood-thirsty group of vampires who have kidnapped his niece. Maggie Q is to play a priestess vampire hunter who joins him on his quest. Also, she'll be gorgeous. Just a stab in the dark there. But, I have to say - I'd have rather seen these two rolls reversed. Come on, Hollywood, let's think a bit outside the box, am I right?

You want the roles reversed?
So you want Maggie Q to be "your everyday geek who just so happens to be the only one who understands why Buddy Holly turns up on every TV channel - and is being pursued by a mob of aliens."
And you want Jon Heder to be "a priestess vampire hunter who joins him (Paul Bettany) on his quest."
Are you serious?

No, SS — I'm not serious. Sarcasm, man. Amirite?

Being pursued by a mob of aliens? Wow, that sounds like a really retarded film. Then again even if it turns out to be retarded having Jon Heder as a character should make it funny.

Hehehe. I should have known that last thing was a gag.
It's just that in Hollywood, stranger things have happened (Eg: Viewmaster Movie).
Cheers!
