Apparition Bringing Black Dynamite to Theaters this Fall
August 25, 2009
by Alex Billington
Remember that crazy trailer from last year for that awesome blaxploitation movie called Black Dynamite starring Michael Jai White? Good news - it's finally coming to theaters in October. Sony has announced that Apparition, the new distribution company also handling Terrence Malick's Tree of Life, will be bringing it to theaters starting on October 16th. The film stars Michael Jai White as Black Dynamite, a gun-toting, nunchuck-wielding, ladies man willing to fight all the way from the blood-soaked city streets to the hallowed halls of the Honky House. Read my Sundance review for a recap. This is one you won't want to miss seeing!
"We knew we had a clever and intelligent laugh-out-loud film when we bought Black Dynamite in Sundance. Since then, the film has enjoyed over-the-top receptions on the film festival circuit, and we couldn't be more excited to bring the film to the public," said Sony Worldwide Acquisitions' Steve Bersch. "Scott Sanders has made a classic: a movie that audiences quote lines from walking out of the theatre," added Apparition's Bob Berney. "Michael Jai White gives a kick-ass, hilarious performance that shows true knowledge and love of the genre. This one is really fun to be a part of; I discover new laughs every time I see the film." Go see it!

Yes. I was so excited about this movie when the trailer hit and then it just fell off the radar. I'm glad to see it will be in theaters. I hope it will be a wide distribution. Can't wait!

I think the only way your IQ dropped is because you didn't understand the jokes… Find a sense of humor J, then come back and watch the trailer again.
