Joel Silver Wants to Make a Swamp Thing Revamp in 3D?

I don't know if it's just me (maybe cause I'm not a horror guy), but I always confuse the Swamp Thing monster with the Creature from the Black Lagoon monster. For a while only one of those movies was being remade, but now they're both in the works. Producer Joel Silver talked to press today (via ScreenCrave) about Whiteout and mentioned an interesting scoop at the end. "I'm developing a picture now that I'd like to do… I'll hopefully do Swamp Thing, which is a movie we've had for a long time. We think that would be great to do in 3D. There are a couple of projects I'm thinking about (for the format) but not everything."
Swamp Thing is DC Comic property that Wes Craven turned into a film in the early 80s about a scientist who gets accidentally transformed into a swamp plant monster. It's not something I necessarily think of as a classic, but I really don't follow it closely enough. However, as a campy 3D remake, I'm just not sure. I like the idea of remaking Piranha in 3D just because I've heard they're going all out - spilling more blood than has ever spilled before. But Swamp Thing? In 3D? I don't know, just not something I can get behind for the time being. It depends on who they get to write and direct it, right? Those are the more important decisions.
Of course, this is all in the very early development stages. When Collider tried to ask Silver for more details, he simply replied with: "Maybe going to do it. I like it." I'm sure we'll hear more soon. Anyone excited?

Swamp Things a D.C. Comic that Wes Craven turned into a cult film… Wasn't his creation….

This could work if they do it right….without the cheese. The original "Swamp Thing"(1982), is a campy, cult classic starring Adrienne Barbeau. Yes, it had it's shortcomings–especially in the effects department, but it's an entertaining flick no less. A reboot would be cool…IF THEY DO IT RIGHT. The 3-D gimmick really isn't necessary, though.

Remake beyond remake is this all that's going on. Granted some remakes make for a good movie but damn did all the creativity get sucked out of Hollywood.

How about Joel Silver gets around to his planned remake of Logan's Run already!

Bad idea. I mean really bad idea. The definitive Swamp Thing comic series was written by Alan Moore and everyone knows Alan Moore movies suck donkey balls. Really bad idea.

Really #8? Watchmen, V for Vendetta, From Hell…all very important works in the world of the graphic novel…Moore is an icon, not a donkey ball sucker.

Actually it could be really great.. If you adapted the Alan Moore story about the Vampires who lived in the sunken town, that could be really creepy and horrific..
and if you set it up as a trilogy for American Gothic you could do some real cool stuff. Especially if they get to add some other characters like the Phantom Stranger and the Spectre..
You could even replace Constantine with Phantom Stranger..
or you could use Constantine… hopefully not the Keanu one.

So many great story elements in Moore's run…
the Parliament of Trees
Etrigan the Demon
the Invunche
Constantine (it's where he was introduced btw)
Woodrue the Floronic Man
OR just start right up with The Anatomy Lesson wherein Swamp Thing discovers he's not even partially human.

yeah revamp the swamp thing sounds cool, but it has to be the alan moore run on the series that was the best run on the comic,a fucking classic.
