Louis Leterrier's Awesome Idea for a Summer of The Avengers
Now this you need to hear! Geoff Boucher of Hero Complex recently talked with director Louis Leterrier on the set of Clash of the Titans recently. As you hopefully already know, Leterrier last directed the newest Incredible Hulk movie, which was much more well-received than Ang Lee's Hulk. Although he doesn't know yet if he'll be back for another Hulk sequel, he does want to work with Marvel again (and is contracted to do another movie for them anyway). "I would love to do the Avengers film. I’d love to work with Marvel again. I loved working with them." There's a lot more to it than that, just listen to this idea, it might be brilliant.

Zombieland Survival Tips: Rule #15 - Use a Bowling Ball!
Hell yea I can't wait for Zombieland! This little survival clip video was actually put up by Sony last week, but somehow everyone missed it, and I just found out about it now, so I wanted to feature it anyway since it's so cool. So in Zombieland, there are 47 rules to survive, and apparently #15 is "Nothing says massive head trauma like a bowling ball!" Or something like that. Either way, it's awesome, and I just hope we get to see more crazy videos like this, like potentially all 47 of the rules? Who knows if that'll happen. I wonder if that Pittsburgh mention was a shout out to George Romero and his zombies? Whatever, just check it out!

Worth Watching - Aug 9: Jeff Bridges in The Open Road Trailer
Now this is an interesting little indie film. The Open Road stars Justin Timberlake, Jeff Bridges, and Kate Mara. Never heard of it? Neither had I until a few months back when it was finally picked up for distribution by Anchor Bay Films. MSN debuted the trailer for this recently and I guess I'd say it doesn't look bad, but I don't know what to make of it. Anytime and indie like this doesn't make it into any film festivals at all, that's probably a sure sign that it's really not that good. But I'll let you be the judge of that, as there's a lot to like about this trailer in an entertainment sense. And of course, it's Jeff Bridges, there's no way I can't love him!

Enjoy This: 500 Days of Summer Bank Heist Music Video
"Zooey's absence from the dance number in 500 Days of Summer was a tragic injustice. Here we have a remedy." A great music video popped up online earlier this week that I just need to feature today. It stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel and is directed by Marc Webb - so basically it's a fun little 500 Days of Summer reunion. It's actually a music video for the song "Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?" by Zooey Deschanel's band She & Him. It was created as an additional promotional video by Fox Searchlight for the nationwide release of 500 Days of Summer this weekend. It's really a fun video, so check it out!

Rumor: Steven Spielberg is Now Developing the Halo Movie?!
Whoa, wait, when did this happen?! Our friends at IESB are reporting a considerably exciting rumor that Steven Spielberg has taken over development on the Halo movie that Peter Jackson previously tried to make. They're saying they've confirmed this "with studio executives and our close ties to CAA" and that it's legit. Let's not forget that Jackson and Spielberg are working together on Tintin, so they've probably had plenty of time to talk about bringing one of the greatest video games in history to the big screen. But why is Jackson letting Spielberg take over so easily? Is it because he doesn't have time with The Hobbit coming up?

Sony Moving Forward on Developing Underworld 4 in 3D
I'm not a fan of the Underworld franchise at all. I was obsessed with the first one before it came out, but once I actually got to see it, I lost all interest, and I haven't seen either of the sequels (or the first one again) since then. I respect that a lot of people may still be fans of the franchise, so this news is really for them. ShockTillYouDrop has confirmed that Sony / Screen Gems is developing another sequel in the Underworld franchise and it will be shot in 3D. Their current plan is to have it ready to go by January of 2011, mirroring the January release of Underworld: Rise of the Lycans earlier this year as well. Any big fans out there?

Lookin' Ahead at What Jason Reitman's Got Lined-Up Next
If you're a longtime reader you'll know that we've always been a supporter of Jason Reitman, especially during the release of Juno in late 2007 through to early 2008. His third feature film, Up in the Air, is set to premiere in Toronto next month and already has great early buzz. But as always, being the fans that we are, we want to know what he'll be directing next after he finishes Up in the Air. Variety published an article last night about a new production company that Reitman is launching called Right of Way Films and hidden in there in the middle was a sentence about at least four other projects that Reitman has in development.

David Fincher's Social Network Movie Has Started Casting?
At least according to The Playlist that is. I still think there are plenty of people who just don't believe that David Fincher will be directing The Social Network movie about Facebook. Well you better believe it! Some interesting updates have popped up around the web recently that all seem to be alluding to the fact that he will be directing it and that it might be happening very soon. First off, Patrick Goldstein of the LA Times mentioned in an article earlier this week, that Fincher might be, oddly, taking a pay cut to direct this, which I guess further indicates he's farther along in negotiations than we first thought. But that's not all.

Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life Finally Has a Distributor!
This is great news for fans of Terrence Malick! Yesterday it was announced that Bill Pohlad and Bob Berney had launched a new distribution company called Apparition (read the press release). The first two films on their slate are Jane Campion's romance Bright Star (watch the trailer) and Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life, which has remained mysteriously under the radar for years. Buried within this Variety article is this little nugget of news: "Tree of Life, which hasn't been dated but will be released around the year-end holiday season. The 2009 bow is interesting since Malick is famous for long post-production periods."

McG Talks About His Plans for Terminator 5 & 20,000 Leagues
Coming out of this summer, I'm not sure McG will be a director most people are excited to see more from, but he might be able to redeem himself. McG talked with both IGN and RadioFree recently and opened up about his plans for both Terminator 5 and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, which are both in active development. "I'm prepping 20,000 Leagues every day, but I'm concurrently prepping Terminator 5--you know, another Terminator picture. So we're cooking that up. And then I'm very active in Spring Awakening also, the musical. So we'll see. But my focus right now is really pushing forward 20,000 Leagues."

Check This Out: Gerard Butler's Law Abiding Citizen Poster
Unless you read gossip blogs and have seen paparazzi photos from the set, you probably haven't heard of Law Abiding Citizen. The film stars Gerard Butler as Clyde Shelton, an "everyday guy" who decides to take justice into his own hands after a plea bargain sets his family's killers free. His target: The district attorney who orchestrated the deal. It's directed by F. Gary Gray, who last brought us The Italian Job and A Man Apart before that. Don't get this confused with The Bounty though, the film that Butler is currently shooting, as this isn't a comedy, it's a thriller through-and-through. Anyway, check out the poster below.

Worth Watching: Official New York, I Love You Trailer Arrives
Vivendi has debuted the official trailer for New York, I Love You today on Apple. This isn't actually the first time we've seen a trailer, as we featured one nearly a year ago, although this is a better, high res version that is worth watching anyway. New York, I Love You is in another ensemble film following in the footsteps of Paris, Je T'aime featuring 10 short segments about falling in love in New York City. There are a lot of big name actors in this, like Shia LaBeouf, Natalie Portman, Orlando Bloom, Christina Ricci, Ethan Hawke, Robin Wright Penn, Anton Yelchin, Olivia Thirlby, and many more. It's a great little trailer, so enjoy it!
