Jay Chou Officially Cast as Kato in Rogen's Green Hornet

Jay Chou

Forget what we said last week about Korean actor Kwon Sang-woo being cast as Kato in Seth Rogen's The Green Hornet, because apparently that was 100% wrong. Sony has confirmed via a press release today (read it here) that they've cast Taiwanese actor Jay Chou in the role instead. Chou is a singer and actor (much like Korean star Rain) and a huge star throughout Asia and will definitely draw international crowds. “Jay is incredibly unique and charming and fights like a wild dog! When I filmed him next to Seth, they had such great chemistry, and I knew the movie will be great," director Michel Gondry said about casting him.

Now that you've seen it, what did you think? The summer isn't over yet! Landing in movie theaters everywhere this weekend is G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, yet another big summer action movie based on a Hasbro toyline. Of course, the big question is, as always, if it's any good? Was Stephen Sommers the right choice for director? Did the cast ensemble do well? Or was it just a cheesy piece of crap not even worthy of the ticket price? Was it fun and entertaining or just an eye-sore and glossy disaster? After months debate, it's time to speak up! Sound off below, leave your thoughts, and let us know what you thought of G.I. Joe!

Are You Ready For a Dystopian, Futuristic Robin Hood Movie?

Futuristic Robin Hood

You know, I was already excited to see Ridley Scott's "revisionist take on the Robin Hood tale," but there goes Hollywood, milking every idea for every last dollar they can. THR's Risky Biz Blog has an interesting article today about another Robin Hood movie (not the one currently in production) being developed by The Dark Knight producer Charles Roven and 300 producer Gianni Nunnari. Roven's Atlas Entertainment and Nunnari's Hollywood Gang have decided to move forward with a pitch from commercials director Nicolai Fuglsig (see some of his work here), who is also currently attached to make his directing debut.

More 'Alias' Staff Become Writers on Mission: Impossible 4

Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible 3

It looks like Mission: Impossible 4 is on the right track. Paramount has hired Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec to write the screenplay. It was officially announced back in June that Tom Cruise and J.J. Abrams would be back to produce, but that's all that was set in stone so far. Applebaum and Nemec spent four seasons working with Abrams as co-executive producers on "Alias," and they will write M:I 4 based on a story Abrams wrote with them. Interestingly, the Variety article on this is being hazy about whether Ethan Hunt will be in it much, saying "Hunt will certainly be involved in an onscreen capacity." But not the lead?

Trailer for Nancy Meyers' It's Complicated with Meryl Streep

It's Complicated Trailer

Universal has debuted the trailer for their big holiday comedy called It's Complicated starring Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin, Steve Martin, and John Krasinski. This is, to put it frankly, exactly the kind of movie my parents will love. But maybe I'm just in a bad mood, because this trailer just pisses me off. It's exactly the kind of trite crap that I didn't want to see any more of this year. The other thing that really upsets me about it is that I'm sure the title, It's Complicated, was "inspired" by the relationship options on Facebook (ugh), in an attempt to modernize this in the most ridiculous way. You can do better than that, Universal!

Robert Luketic Attached to Yet Another Barbarella Movie

Barbarella

Maybe this version of Barbarella might actually happen this time around? THR announces yet another Barbarella movie, this time with Robert Luketic, director of Legally Blonde, 21, and The Ugly Truth, attached instead of Robert Rodriguez. Additionally, newcomer Joe Gazzam, who wrote John Carpenter's upcoming feature Riot, has been brought on board to write a new screenplay. Veteran producer Dino De Laurentiis is still on-board to produce the project. Universal booted Rodriguez last year after they couldn't come to an agreement at all (read all about that here). Now it's Luketic's turn to bring us his Barbarella.

Must Watch: Second Full Where the Wild Things Are Trailer!

Where the Wild Things Are Trailer

Warner Brothers has debuted another full length trailer for Where the Wild Things Are today on Yahoo. As you already know, this stars Max Records as Max as well as Catherine Keener and Mark Ruffalo, and features the voices of James Gandolfini, Catherine O'Hara, Forest Whitaker, Paul Dano, and Tom Noonan. I really can't say enough good things about this - it looks wonderful, like one of the best movies left this year. We've already featured one trailer for this back in March and a featurette from Comic-Con as well, but this is best trailer yet, without a doubt. Even if you're not really that interested, you still need to see this trailer!

Check This Out: Teaser Poster for Joe Dante's The Hole in 3D

The Hole in 3D Poster

No, The Hole isn't a new porno, it's a creepy new thriller from director Joe Dante, the man who brought us Gremlins and Piranha and other great movies. ShockTillYouDrop has unveiled our first high res look at the poster from the movie featuring the "hole" in the basement in which all the "bad guys" come from. Much like Small Soldiers, one of Dante's other past movies, The Hole is actually made for the younger teenage demographic, but it's still creepy. I got to see an early trailer at Comic-Con and it looks okay, not anything amazing, but just because it's Joe Dante, I'm mildly excited for it. Anyway, check the poster out below!

Filmmaker John Hughes Dies at 59 of a Heart Attack

John Hughes

Another '80s icon is gone. John Hughes, the writer and director remembered best for churning out classic teen movies such as The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Weird Science and Ferris Bueller's Day Off, as well as the scripts for others, including Pretty in Pink, Some Kind of Wonderful, National Lampoon's Vacation, Home Alone, and Miracle on 34th Street, suffered a lethal heart attack this morning while taking a walk in New York City. He was only 59. For those of us who grew up in the '80s, Hughes was a legend, perhaps one of the first filmmakers we knew of by name and could associate with a certain brand of movie.

Even Zach Galifianakis is Skeptical About a Hangover Sequel

The Hangover

I think it's finally safe to say that The Hangover is the comedy hit of the year, as its made about $258 million, making it the #4 biggest box office earner of 2009 (so far). Of course, we know they're already making a sequel, as it was announced before this even hit theaters. But is a sequel even necessary? I'm sure some will say no, some will say there's not even another story to tell, but anyone who loved will probably argue that a sequel is a good idea (why not?). But when IGN asked co-star Zach Galifianakis about what he's heard from director Todd Phillips about The Hangover 2, even he sounded skeptical about it.

Worth Watching: Clive Owen in The Boys Are Back Trailer

The Boys Are Back Trailer

Miramax has debuted a trailer on Yahoo today for a film I've never heard of called The Boys Are Back starring Clive Owen. This drama is about a father who must learn to become a single parent when his wife suddenly passes away. It's great to see Clive Owen in a non-action movie for once (since I don't really count Duplicity as a complete drama). This looks pretty damn good, but will it be anything memorable? It doesn't look like. Maybe I'm just being too harsh or maybe I'm preparing for the upcoming fall film festivals, since this is premiering up in Toronto. With that said, I still suggest everyone check this out this afternoon.

Director Peter Berg on What We Can Expect in His Dune

Dune

Before director Peter Berg goes off to helm the Battleship movie for Universal, or anything else for that matter, I want to see his epic new Dune movie first. Maybe it's because I'm a big sci-fi fan and because I think we could use another Dune adaptation, I'm not exactly sure, but I hope it happens soon. SciFi Wire caught up with Berg recently and asked him about the status of Dune, which he says he's working on "getting up and running." So while we still don't know when we'll ever see this, he does talk more about what we can expect to see (if it ever happens). And of course, he wants this to be different than before.
