Ridley Scott's Brave New World Adaptation is Gaining Momentum
Before we even see Ridley Scott take on that Alien prequel that everyone is so excited about, he might be bringing us an adaptation of Aldous Huxley's Brave New World first. Yes, we've heard a lot about this adaptation over the last year or so, but as always, Scott attaches himself to numerous projects and doesn't decide until last minute what he'll actually do next. While we've written about it numerous, this is the first time that an industry blog, THR's Risky Biz Blog, has covered the news. Not only do they say that "the project has more momentum" but they confirmed that Farhad Safinia has been hired to write the script.

Liam Neeson Joins Orphan Director's 'Unknown White Male'
Liam Neeson has been taking on tons of projects recently. Neeson is negotiating to to star in Unknown White Male, the Dark Castle thriller that will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, of Orphan this summer. The script, written by newcomer Karl Gajdusek ("Dead Like Me"), centers on a doctor (Neeson) who, while visiting Berlin with his wife, is in a car accident that leaves him in a coma. He awakens to find that he seemingly has been replaced by another man, one with sinister intentions, leading the good doctor on a frantic quest to uncover the truth. It doesn't sound like the most original idea, but it still could be good.

Updates from Henson Co. on Fraggle Rock and Dark Crystal
The Jim Henson Company is back in business! The beloved studio has been announcing multiple projects over the last few years, including Jason Segel's Muppets movie and a Monster Safari movie most recently, but when will actually see any of these get made? That's just the question that Adam Rosenberg at MTV asked Brian Henson, son of the legendary Jim Henson, who is now running the Jim Henson Company. And the good news is that the Fraggle Rock movie announced many years ago and the Dark Crystal sequel also announced years ago are both very close to starting pre-production. Bring on more Henson!

Is James McTeigue Hiding a Wachowski Superman Secret?
Are we ever going to get to the bottom of these Superman shenanigans? Earlier this year, a rumor started circulating that the Wachowski Brothers were interested in directing a new Superman trilogy for Warner Brothers. To make a long story short, that rumor was later debunked. And so was the story about Mark Millar pitching a Superman trilogy (it was also recently discovered that Matthew Vaughn was the director who was helping him pitch that - although it never got too far). SlashFilm talked with Wachowski friend James McTeigue yesterday and when asked about Superman, the answer he gave was very interesting.

First Fun Trailer for Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant
Universal has debuted the trailer for The Vampire's Assistant today on Moviefone. We also featured the poster for this yesterday. Much to our surprise, the title of this has actually officially change to Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant, as I complained yesterday about the original title The Vampire's Assistant being too confusing. This looks good, but it also looks like a vampire movie for kids, with a mix of comedy and creepiness that I don't think will sit well with older horror fiends. That said, much like City of Ember, I'm interested in checking it out because it looks like such a rich world that Paul Weitz is bringing us it into.

Must Watch: Officially Awesome Red Band Zombieland Trailer
Sony has debuted a second red band trailer for Zombieland starring Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, and Emma Stone. We've seen quite a bit from this so far, including a trailer and even our set visit piece, but there is still plenty more to see, that's for damn sure! This looks vastly more bloody, grotesque, and badass than I thought it would be... And that's a good thing! It's also great to see young Jesse Eisenberg putting that shotgun to use! Oh hell yes, I can't wait for Zombieland, this looks so frickin' awesome. There's nothing better than watching zombies get killed all day and night, in grocery stores and amusement parks, is there?

We heard rumors previously that the cast of Danny Trejo's Machete would include some pretty crazy names, both big and small. Who knew it would all turn out to be true? Hidden in this Variety article is a list of the complete supporting cast for Machete, which just started shooting down in Texas this week. Must Watch: Trailer for Peter Jackson's The Lovely Bones
Paramount has debuted the trailer for Peter Jackson's The Lovely Bones starring Saoirse Ronan, Mark Wahlberg, Rachel Weisz, Susan Sarandon, and Stanley Tucci. The somewhat controversial story centers on a young girl who has been murdered that watches over her family, and her killer, from heaven. This looks like a very interesting mix of beautiful heavenly imagery and an emotional drama about the loss of a loved one. I still think this looks phenomenal, but I guess that all just threw me off a bit at first. It reminded me of the trippy imagination scenes in Terry Gilliam's Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Anyway, watch it below!

Larry Fessenden Directing New Line's Remake of The Orphanage
This guy does everything - act, write, edit, produce, and direct. Larry Fessenden has signed on to direct New Line's remake of The Orphanage, the highly praised 2007 Spanish thriller produced by Guillermo del Toro. Fessenden previously directed the horror film Wendigo and the thriller The Last Winter. Del Toro and Fessenden know each other from the horror circuit, with del Toro's admiration of his work leading him to handpick him. Del Toro saw in him a filmmaker who understood the conventions of the horror genre and could develop a movie that would be as scary and disturbing as the original but in an American context.
