Kim Ji-Woon Wants Clive Owen & Sienna Miller for His Next

Clive Owen - Kim Ji-Woon - Sienna Miller

If you haven't seen it yet, The Good, the Bad, the Weird is one of the finest foreign films of last year, one of my personal favorites. It's directed by South Korean filmmaker Kim Ji-Woon and stars an all-Korean cast. Kim is currently starting prep work on his next film, titled Max and the Junkmen, a remake of Claude Sautet’s 1971 heist classic Max et les Ferrailleurs which starred Michael Piccoli. Although this time he's going completely international, not only shooting in Philadelphia to mimic the "dreary look" of Europe's oldest cities, but looking to bring on an English cast, according to an interview as translated by Twitch.

Brand New Japanese Trailer for Roland Emmerich's 2012

2012 Trailer

Don't you just love Roland Emmerich? Nothing like watching death and destruction on a massive, global scale. Sony has debuted a Japanese trailer for 2012 on its official website that can also be seen below. It's a bit of a change from the first full-length trailer for 2012 with a bit of new footage and a different editing style, but it still looks exciting, epic, and - as only Roland Emmerich can deliver - absolutely ridiculous. I'm inherently excited for this, even if it is stupid that their car or airplane is being chased by an earthquake or volcano, but that's what makes this pure escapist fun. Maybe it's just me, but I'm looking forward to this!

Emile Hirsch on What to Expect in His New Hamlet Movie

Emile Hirsch - Hamlet - Catherine Hardwicke

Last week we ran an update on the upcoming slate for director Catherine Hardwicke. One of the projects she has in the works, which may be shooting soon, is a contemporary version of Shakespeare's Hamlet that is set to star Emile Hirsch (first written about here). Our friends at Collider talked with Hirsch recently, who not only confirmed that he's supposed to start shooting in October, but divulged some interesting details on what we can expect. "It's almost like mixing Hamlet with The Shining a little bit and making this kind of scary/cool vision of the play." Well damn, I already prefer this version over that Shakespeare 4 Kidz crap.

Rumor: Chris Nolan Wants to Shoot Batman 3 Entirely in IMAX

Christopher Nolan - IMAX Camera

This is only a rumor because it hasn't been confirmed by anyone - Nolan, IMAX, or Warner Brothers. Harry at AICN wrote a piece saying that Christopher Nolan is interested in shooting the inevitable Batman 3 movie entirely in and with IMAX cameras. This isn't all that surprising to hear, as Nolan has been a long-time support of IMAX and really wanted to shoot all of The Dark Knight in IMAX but discovered there are huge technical issues that prevented him (such as only being able to shoot 3 minutes at a time and the cameras being so heavy and loud). But maybe they'll have worked all that out by the time Batman 3 shoots?

Worth Watching: Ti West's The House of the Devil Trailer

The House of the Devil Trailer

Speaking of gorgeous posters, I wouldn't have even noticed this trailer today if it weren't for its amazingly beautiful poster as well. It seems a bit off to describe a creepy poster for a horror movie as "beautiful," but there is really no better word. The House of the Devil is a new 80's horror film written and directed by Ti West, the guy responsible for The Roost and Trigger Man previously. The trailer really isn't the greatest quality, which is actually what I think they were going for (kind of in a Grindhouse way). However, I already made my decision to go see this after stumbling upon its badass poster. Oh and it's red band, so watch out!

Gorgeous Unused Painted Poster for Inglourious Basterds

Inglourious Basterds Poster

Every time we come across an illustrated or painted poster for a movie these days, it's like coming across a priceless gem that we just have to stop and admire. Thankfully, a few of these posters have actually been used in their respective marketing campaigns - Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Hellboy II, both drawn by Drew Struzan. Thanks to PosterWire today, we have a rare glimpse at a poster made by illustrator James Goodridge for Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds that was never used. It's a sad story but at least it has a happy ending, as Goodridge has allowed everyone to check out the poster in all of its beauty (below).

Kevin Tancharoen Going from Musicals to Sci-Fi With Arcana

Kevin Tancharoen

A very interesting change of pace today for Kevin Tancharoen, the choreographer-turned-director who reboot and remade the dance movie Fame (out later this year), as he's now attached to direct a sci-fi action movie at Universal. Variety reports that Tancharoen will direct a project called Arcana that Brett Ratner will produce. The script was written by John Ridley, who wrote George Lucas' Red Tails and brought us Undercover Brother. Exact details are being kept a secret, but Arcana is described as a live-action graphic novel influenced by Blade Runner that includes martial arts and uses production methods similar to 300.

'Soul Train' TV Show to Make a Stop on the Big Screen

Soul Train

That's right ladies and gentlemen it's time for the Souuuuul Train!  If you thought Step Up 3D was going to provide all the hip-hop dance cinema you would need for the next decade, you were dead wrong. Variety reports the longest, continuously-running first-run syndicated program "Soul Train" will be the focus of a forthcoming film to be scripted by screenwriter Malcolm Spellman. Porter/Geller Productions will produce along with the show's producer and host Don Cornelius, who Spellman refers to as "the godfather of cool" and has been at the helm of the program for all of its 35 seasons from 1971 to its conclusion in 2006.

xXx: The Return of Xander Cage Gets Replacement Director

Vin Diesel in xXx

Just in case you were worried that this project would never come to fruition (especially after director Rob Cohen dropped back in June) THR reports today that Ericson Core (Invincible) has been tapped to  sit in the director's chair for the third installment of the action series xXx. We've known that Vin Diesel is coming back to reprise his role as Xander Cage for almost a year now, but since then the only news about the project was the uninspired hiring of John Brancato and Michael Ferris (Catwoman and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines) to pen the script.  But with this dream team of talent can't you already smell the success?

Gentlemen Broncos Behind-the-Scenes Web Series Video #1

Gentlemen Broncos Behind-the-Scenes

Fox Searchlight just sent over the first behind-the-scenes video for Jared Hess' Gentlemen Broncos, which we debuted a poster and trailer for a few weeks back. This short video involves Jared Hess shooting on a green screen with Sam Rockwell. There's not much more I need to say, as they they both introduce themselves at the start. If you're wondering why there's even a green screen, well, after Ronald Chevalier (Jemaine Clement) steals the fantasy book written by Benjamin Purvis (Michael Angarano), it gets made into a feature film that stars Rockwell. How's that for some twisted fantastical fun. Check it out below!

Must Watch: Awesome International Trailer for Zombieland!

Zombieland Trailer

Oh hell yes, this looks so damn good! Another full-length new international trailer for Zombieland was discovered on the official UK website for the film today. I know we've already seen at least two trailers so far - a teaser and a red band - but this just looks better and better the more we see from it! This new one is similar to those last few trailers, but features a voiceover from Jesse Eisenberg and a few more new scenes that we haven't seen. After this, all I want to see is the carnage that's going to come when they finally get to the amusement park at end. That part looks hilariously awesome and I can't wait. Anyway, enjoy this!

Early Basic Plot Details Revealed for Chris Nolan's Inception

Inception Logo

Your mind is the scene of the crime. Up until this point we haven't known anything at all about the plot of Christopher Nolan's new action movie Inception, besides that it's sci-fi and "set within the architecture of the mind." The first teaser trailer hit yesterday morning but still left everyone with questions, as it was short and very vague, which is exactly what I like to see. However, our friend Kris Tapley at In Contention has revealed some actual plot details for Inception that come directly from the screenplay. I'm personally a big stickler about not ruining the experience of a movie, so I've pulled only the spoiler-free parts of his article.
