Goyer Says Magneto Moving Forward in the Next Year?
David Goyer seems to have a lot on his plate. He's currently working on "Flash Forward" for ABC and is lining up other projects following The Unborn, like The Invisible Man that we always hear a lot about. He's also still attached to direct X-Men Origins: Magneto, at least for the time being. We've known that for a very long time (since 2007). And with Fox actively developing a Wolverine sequel, Deadpool spin-off, and X-Men: First Class spin-off, it would make sense they're looking into this as well. "They're still thinking about doing it," Goyer recently told MTV. "They're definitely looking into doing other X-Men spinoffs."

Must Watch: Teaser Trailer for Christopher Nolan's Inception
After showing in theaters this weekend in front of Inglourious Basterds, Warner Brothers has debuted the official teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan's Inception online today. Although its not long, clocking in at just under a minute, it is still an awesome teaser, especially for a project we've known nothing about until now. This hasn't even finished shooting yet either, they're still working in Paris, which makes it even more exciting to see. Plus it's Christopher Nolan, one of my favorite directors, I'm expecting another brilliant movie. Even the bit of Hans Zimmer's score we hear in this sounds badass. Can't wait for next summer!

Gillian Anderson Wants to Return for Another X-Files Movie?
At least that's what's being reported by XFilesNews.com as translated from Dnevnik.hr. Agent Scully herself, Gillian Anderson, was recently attending the Sarajevo Film Festival and told press there that "of course I will agree on making the new X-Files movie [sic]." A new one? After The X-Files: I Want to Believe? Bloody-Disgusting, where all these links originally came from, adds that "there is in fact talk about doing another" although that talk is "of a reboot." They continue: "Are you surprised? Nothing is set in stone, all should be taken as rumor until confirmed." I thought the failure of the most recent movie closed this case forever?

A Look Back at Avatar Day and What Lies Ahead for Fox
So the entire world is now excited for James Cameron's Avatar to open on December 18th, right? Wait, they're not? Avatar Day didn't put the movie on a path to become another $1.6 billion success like Titanic? I'm still grappling with the outcome of Avatar Day last Friday and everything that happened that evening, both good and bad. I think it's a bit hasty to call it a global success but I also think it's a bit ignorant to call it a failure. But what exactly it is, though, I don't know. One thing is for sure - a lot of people watched the trailer for Avatar. But not a lot of people went to Avatar Day. Is Fox to blame? Or was it a lack of interest?

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo Directing Universal's Bioshock Movie
This might be mistake. Universal has announced (via Variety) that they've hired 28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo to replace Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski on the Bioshock movie. There is one and only one reason for this - money. Back in April we heard about Universal stopping Verbinski's version of Bioshock because it was going to cost too much. But instead of shelving the project entirely, they instead decided to bring on a director who could shoot it on a much smaller budget, turning what was probably a $150-200 million movie into one that will probably cost less than $100 million.

Morton, West and Walker Join Stanton's John Carter of Mars
Three more actors have joined the cast of Andrew Stanton's John Carter of Mars, Disney's adaptation of the Edgar Rice Burroughs series of books. Samantha Morton, Dominic West and Polly Walker will star alongside of the previously announced Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins and Willem Dafoe. Morton plays Sola, the daughter of Dafoe's Tars Tarkas, who must hide her softer side from her warmongering race. West plays Sab Than (the villain), prince of the Zodangans who believes he is entitled to rule Mars. Walker plays Sarkoja, a merciless, tyrannical Thark. Not that any of that makes sense, but we'll understand in due time.

Gus Van Sant Directing a 'Young Love' Film Titled Restless
Columbia is negotiating with Oscar nominated filmmaker Gus Van Sant to develop and direct Restless, an original screenplay by first-time screenwriter Jason Lew. Exact story details are being kept under wraps, though it's described as contemporary and distinctive take on young love. Brian Grazer will produce Restless along with Ron Howard and his daughter Bryce Dallas Howard for Imagine Entertainment. Lew and Bryce attended New York University together, which is where Lew first wrote the story as a play. Howard, who had acted in plays with Lew, read the story and encouraged him to write it as a screenplay and take it to her dad.

Simon Pegg Cast in John Landis' New Film 'Burke and Hare'
We're talking about Animal House and An American Werewolf in London director John Landis. Dread Central is reporting that Simon Pegg has joined the cast of a new film John Landis is directing about the sinister tale of Burke and Hare. The Burke and Hare murders, also known as the West Port murders, were serial murders perpetrated in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1827 and 1828. The killings were attributed to Irish immigrants William Burke and William Hare, who sold the corpses of their 17 victims to the Edinburgh Medical College for dissection. Sounds pretty grotesque and perfect for both John Landis and Simon Pegg.

David Fincher's Social Network Movie Gets a Greenlight
What did I tell ya! The End of Show blog (via SlashFilm) is reporting as of yesterday that David Fincher's The Social Network has been given the greenlight from Columbia Pictures and will start shooting this year, as I speculated earlier this month. They're reporting that its been given a $47 million budget and will start production in October. Fincher's deal to direct has been signed and Scott Rudin, Kevin Spacey and Dana Brunetti are producing. They are currently working on casting at the moment and scouting shooting locations in Cambridge and Boston. I'm sure we'll be hearing a lot more about this production very soon.

Worth Watching - Aug 23: War of the Worlds: Goliath Trailer
War of the Worlds: Goliath is an animated steampunk epic and unofficial sequel to War of the Worlds. In 1900, the Earth was attacked by ruthless invaders from the planet Mars. The Martian's 80 ft tall, heat-ray spewing, Tripod battle machines laid waste to the planet, but the invaders ultimately fell prey to Earth's tiny bacteria. Fourteen years later, Man has rebuilt his shattered world, in part by utilizing captured Martian technology. Thanks to Twitch, I'm featuring this badass trailer for an indie animated film that looks pretty awesome. I'm a sucker for this kind of stuff, so I thought I'd also share it with everyone else. Check it out!

Eli Roth Almost Directed Baywatch 3-Double-D Before Hostel
This isn't really news, but it's a great story that I just wanted everyone else to hear today. Remember back in July, when it was announced that Paramount was working on a comedic Baywatch movie? Well, apparently a Baywatch movie has been in the works for a long time (not a surprise). Over on Hero Complex, they have a story from Hostel director Eli Roth about how he actually pitched a Baywatch 3-Double-D movie around town that never went anywhere. Now they're making pretty much the movie that he wanted to make by hiring the writer of The Break-Up. And you won't believe who he was going to make this with either.

First Fan Reactions from Avatar Day - What Did You Think?
I have so much to say, so much to talk about regarding James Cameron's Avatar, that I don't even know where to start. But I guess I'll kick off with this video that Brandon and I shot yesterday during Avatar Day. Both of us attended the 6PM screening of footage for Avatar Day at one of the best IMAX theaters in Los Angeles. We interviewed a few groups of people before and after seeing the footage and asked them their thoughts on Avatar, both positive and negative. Interestingly, we have a mix of good and bad, in order to try and get the most well-rounded set of opinions. But we also want to know what you thought about it, too!
