James McTeigue on The Raven and His Ideas for Superman

James McTeigue - Superman

A few days ago I spoke with Ninja Assassin director James McTeigue at Fantastic Fest in Austin, TX (full interview is forthcoming). At the end I asked him to give me an update on a few of his projects, including his next feature The Raven, which SlashFilm first revealed back in August. I also just had to ask him about the Superman rumor again (see here), since that rumor just doesn't ever seem to go away. While he reiterated what we already know about Warner Brothers putting Superman on hold for the time being, he did reveal a bit about what he would do if he ever does direct a Superman movie. You'll definitely want to hear this.

Check This Out: Empire's Clash of the Titans Cover & Photos!

Clash of the Titans

No official trailer for Clash of the Titans yet, but this might be a good sign that it's coming soon. Empire has debuted their new cover shot today featuring Sam Worthington as Perseus in Louis Leterrier's Clash of the Titans. I know it's just a new cover shot (for now), but Empire usually picks great photos, and this is no exception. It goes great along with the other two photos from this movie that were debuted back in June. Also found in the actual Titans article are a few more awesome shots (that I'm sure we'll have much larger versions of soon enough). Can't wait to read everything in this article, too. Check out the new photos below!

Hugh Jackman Might Be Starring in Shawn Levy's Real Steel

Rock Em Sock Em Robots

Big casting news for a DreamWorks project. Variety reports that Hugh Jackman is "in talks" to star in Shawn Levy's Real Steel, the BattleBots-like movie about a father and son who take a robot to the Bot Boxing Championship. However, the bots in this aren't small. The film is set in the near future, where people control human-like 2000-pound robots that duke it out in the boxing ring. Kind of like the gaming in Gerard Butler's Gamer, but with a better story. Variety calls it a "Rocky-with-robots saga" with Jackman playing "an ex-fighter who becomes a promoter when human boxing is outlawed for being too violent."

First Look: Explosions & Green Hornet Costume On Set - Updated!

The Green Hornet

This new video from Splash News isn't that impressive, but it features our first look at Seth Rogen as Britt Reid, aka The Green Hornet, on the set of his new movie The Green Hornet. That first look at his costume pops up right around 32 seconds into the video, but besides that, this features a whole lot of explosions and action scenes that would give Michael Bay a hard on. And if I have to make a statement, I like the look, I think it's a fitting contemporary version of the Green Hornet costume worn by Van Williams back in the 60's. I'm digging the vest. Come on, did anyone think Michel Gondry wouldn't have great costume design?!

Gina Carano's Knockout Will Be Like Old School James Bond

Gina Carano

Although I know not everyone is as big of a fan of Steven Soderbergh as I, he's still a great director that makes solid films. Now that The Informant is out, he's starting prep on a spy thriller called Knockout that will star real life MMA fighter, and hottie, Gina Carano. Empire just talked with Soderbergh and learned that it may be pretty badass, like an old school James Bond flick. He describes Knockout as "a combination of a Bond movie and Point Blank," though, "more on the scale of From Russia With Love than, you know, Quantum Of Solace... Something where the characters and the story are as prominent as the action stuff."

Weinstein Company Halts Pre-Production on Halloween 3-D

Halloween

Earlier this month it was announced that My Bloody Valentine director Patrick Lussier would be helming the fast-tracked Halloween 3-D for release next summer. But it looks like The Weinstein Company's Dimension Films might have bitten off more than they can chew, which isn't surprising considering the overwhelming amount of other projects they've got on their upcoming slate.  Nikki Finke at Deadline Hollywood snagged a scoop on the sudden stop of pre-production on Halloween 3-D with a whole slew of potential reasons coming out of the woodwork. But she might have already gotten to the bottom of this.

Jessica Alba Might Be Dealing with Some Little Fockers

Jessica Alba

Recently we saw Jessica Alba in the trailer premiere for the ensemble romantic comedy Valentine's Day.  And while there's no doubt she's still got the looks and a bit of charm to keep some of us interested, the trailer confirmed that it's another in a long line of generic and dull career choices for Alba. She just might have a chance to turn that all around as Variety reports that Alba is in talks to join the third installment of the Meet the Parents films which as far as we know is still being called Little Fockers.  Perhaps she'll get the chance to show her more comedic side which unfortunately didn't ever show up in The Love Guru.

John C. Reilly Set to Travel to Fox Searchlight's Cedar Rapids

John C. Reilly

Ever since John C. Reilly made a huge splash into the comedy world with Talladega Nights, he's been one of my favorite comedic actors. However, there's a very clear divide between those who simply love his brand of humor and those who hate it. After all his humor is basically a brother of Will Ferrell's trademark humor, and this became very clear when they combined their off-the-wall antics in Step BrothersTHR reports that Reilly will be bringing the funny along with Ed Helms (NBC's "The Office") in Cedar Rapids, an ensemble road-trip comedy from Miguel Arteta, director of The Good Girl and the upcoming film Youth in Revolt.

Marc Webb to Direct the Remake of Just Another Love Story

Marc Webb

One of my favorite directors, Marc Webb (who guest blogged for us during the summer), has just been attached to another new project today coming off of the immense success of 500 Days of Summer. Webb is in negotiations to direct Just Another Love Story, a remake of the Danish thriller of the same name for Mandate Pictures. The original film, directed by Danish filmmaker Ole Bornedal, broke out at Sundance in 2008 and played at numerous festivals. I first saw it at Fantastic Fest last year and thought it was a good film, but not amazing. With Webb at the helm, however, he may be able turn it into something incredible.

Must Watch: Second New Full Trailer for Fantastic Mr. Fox

Fantastic Mr. Fox Trailer

Fox has debuted a second full-length trailer for Wes Anderson's Fantastic Mr. Fox tonight on Apple. The very first trailer hit way back in July, but I think this second trailer is a definite improvement over that one. There are some very interesting quotes used in this, too. It definitely does look like nothing we've ever seen before, that's for sure. While I love Clooney, his voice just doesn't fit in this. I don't know if it's Anderson's odd recording tactics or that it's just not the right fit, but either way it's one a few things I'm still hesitant about. I'm still expecting to go in and just love this, so stay tuned for my thoughts sometime soon. Enjoy!

Scott Z. Burns Writing a 'Virus Movie' Script for Soderbergh

Steven Soderbergh and Scott Z. Burns

Director Steven Soderbergh and screenwriter Scott Z. Burns recently released their film The Informant! the to tune of about $21 million, an impressive opening total. While talking with Creative Screenwriting magazine's Jeff Goldsmith (via The Playlist), Burns revealed that inspired by a scene he was writing for the character Mark Whitacre in The Informant, he developed the idea for a "virus movie" that was pitched as "Traffic meets Outbreak." Sounds like an ensemble thriller about viruses and the way health is addressed in contemporary society. But alas, Burns had to put the project on hold when the swine flu epidemic hit.
