Disney Sets Tron Legacy for a December 17th, 2010 Release!
September 3, 2009
by Alex Billington
Disney has announced a December 17th, 2010 release date for the highly anticipated Tron Legacy, arriving in theaters (and probably IMAX) in 3D on that day. This puts it up against Michel Gondry's The Green Hornet, which Sony just moved to that spot last week, as well as Yogi Bear and Sony's The Smurfs, which are also in 3D. I predicted many months back that Disney would drop this in the Avatar slot, just because it's another big sci-fi 3D event movie, and they're expecting Avatar to do well this year. It's a perfect date for Tron Legacy, even though it's a long ways out. And I'm sure Sony will move Green Hornet.
In this highly anticipated digital 3D adventure, Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), looks into his father's disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with a loyal confidant (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.
Tron Legacy is directed by first-time filmmaker Joseph Kosinski. The screenplay was co-written by Adam Horowitz ("Lost"), Richard Jefferies (Blood Tide, Living Hell), Edward Kitsis ("Lost"), and the director of the original movie, Steven Lisberger. This first got the greenlight last year after this teaser above played so well at Comic-Con. See our photos of the Flynn's Arcade viral right here or watch the demo reel here. It may be a long time to wait, but it'll be worth it. Tron Legacy has already finished shooting and will be in post-production for the next 15 months before its release. Stay tuned for updates and other exciting news!

The fact that tron: legacy is getting its release date now, pretty much tells me that pirates of the caribbean4 will be getting it theatrical release date in 15 months before its theatrical release to movie theaters which would be in february 2010, when the release date will be announced and then it comes to movie theater in may 2011.

Cool that the movie is getting released in December 2010 NOT so cool that Cindy Morgan Lora/Yori is not included anywhere in the production or promotion of this movie. Yori lives and she's out there somewhere on the grid.
