Green Hornet Starts Shooting, Adds Wilkinson and Olmos
September 3, 2009
by Brandon Lee Tenney
Columbia Pictures sent out an official press release earlier today announcing the start of production on Michel Gondry's The Green Hornet. The revival of the long-standing film, television, radio, and comic book character about a vigilante crime-fighter stars Seth Rogen as the titular character with Jay Chou as his sidekick Kato. Along with the production update, Columbia also confirmed that the Old Man himself, Edward James Olmos, has joined the cast along with previously unannounced actors David Harbour (Revolutionary Road) and Tom Wilkinson (Valkyrie, Duplicity). They've rounded up one hell of a cast.
Tom Wilkinson, David Harbour, AND Edward James Olmos? Damn, can this film gain any more potential? With Gondry at the helm, I was sold. But it just keeps getting better. Though it's unannounced which roles these actors will be playing, put any of 'em on the screen and it'd take an act of The Final Destination-like failure to kill their chemistry. Let's roll, Kato. Over the past few months we've also announced other various actors who have joined the production, including Nicolas Cage as the "gangster villain" named Mr. X and Cameron Diaz as the love interest. The Green Hornet is set to debut on December 17th, 2010 next year.

Wilkinson is awesome, one of the most under-appreciated actors on the planet. I, like you, was already sold… but Wilkinson means I'm there opening night. Sweet!

I really liked Seth Rogen when he first started hitting it big and lately i've been slowly losing confidence in him. let's hope he doesn't mess this up big time.
And totally agree with #1, Wilkinson is a terrific actor.
Come on Alex…with the impressive body of work that Wilkinson has made in his career you list Valkyrie and Duplicity by his name?!
Not Michael Clayton(oscar nom) or In the bedroom(oscar nom) or John Adams(emmy and golden globe win)???????????
Any way his involvement is good news.

Observe and Report 2 : The Green Hornet. Mr Wilkinson….get out now. Your ties with the non-talent, un-funny and inept Rogen will doom your career. THIS IS DEAD TO ME!!!!!!! I will never see this NEVER! One of my favorite crime fighters of all time being whored and turned into another Rogen piece of tripe.

Seth Rogen plus Green Hornet = Epic fail!

#3! Oberserve and Report 2! Funny stuff! Do you think it would really be as bad as Oberserve and Report? Well come to think of it, your right. The only thing worse would that snot-nose Rogen write adn star and produce. Oh Shit! We are doomed.

Rogen is not over-rated. He has no talent and will ruin the sacred Hornet. Why does God hate me so much he would submit us to the horror of the worst Hollywood has to offer. Rogen, you are in a word. A HACK!
Hornet 4 ever! on Sep 3, 2009

I will never see this.

Haters leave then. If you have no hope for this movie then fuck off.
I mean come on! Give the guy a chance. Hold judgement until a trailer drops at least, You never know Rogen may surprise you.

Lol, I agree. Of all of Wilkinson's impressive performances you list Valkyrie and Duplicity?
Otherwise, Green Hornet's doomed to fail.

I only wish Cage was in this film. That would be awesome.

Omg….Anyone who says that Rogen as the hornet isnt bad, STOP….Take a second and picture in your mind what that dufus would look like in the costume. Then again, He supposedly has been getting in shape for it and such but I just cant take Rogen seriously…..but Ill go with #8s advice and stay cautiously optimistic.

O yeah and he wasn't listing those as Wilkinsons best but probably his most recent….jesus guys stop jumping on Alex for stupid fuckin reasons. He gets this awesome news all day so be thankful.

Hey Cody I can picture him and I accept it!
Besides The Green Hornet wasn't a serious show to begin with.

Actually I always though the Green Hornet was serious. The real comedy show back in the day (even for its time) was Adam West's Batman.
The Green Hornet was interesting because everybody thought of him as a gangster/Super-Villain and he used that persona to get right to the bottom of some evil scheme.
Also…. How do you know Rogen's not going to play it seriously… without comedy?
Ever seen Robin Williams in "One Hour Photo"?

Hello Robin Williams HAS TALENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rogen does not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCK OFF XREXexX. YOU are an idiot!

So I'm an idiot frenchbutton, because I'm not going to judge Rogen on something I haven't seen yet, hmm in my book its called giving somebody a chance.
And why not back up you're statement? All I got is RW has talent, and Rogen does not, deep man. Rogen has been in well recieved feature films, and has wrote most of them, that enough says the guy is talented and T.G.H will be good, to me because I like Seth Rogen.
