Eva Green and Ewan McGregor in an Apocalyptic Romance

French actress Eva Green was given quite the shove into stardom when the landed the role as Bond girl Vesper Lynd alongside Daniel Craig's James Bond in 2006's Casino Royale. ScreenDaily reports now Green is starring alongside another top notch British actor in David Mackenzie's tentatively titled new film Last Word, also starring Ewan McGregor. Danish screenwriter Kim Fupz Aakeson wrote the script which tells the story of two people who fall in love as the world around them crumbles. Shooting is currently under way in England already and features a whole slew of other acclaimed international actors rounding out the cast.
Ewen Bremmer, who starred with McGregor in 1996's Trainspotting, is also featured along with acclaimed British actor Stephen Dillane (Thomas Jefferson in HBO's John Adams) and Danish actress Connie Nielsen (Gladiator). A very eclectic cast should make this a project to keep an eye on, but my curiosity is mostly surrounding the depiction of the world around these lovers falling apart. I wonder if it will be a very epic sort of feel or if it's simply a backdrop for this blossoming romance. Mackenzie hasn't had any massive pictures under his belt (his most recent being the Ashton Kutcher indie Spread), but I guess we'll see the scale of this picture as production continues. As always we'll keep you posted on any further developments.
