Second Full Teaser for Fox's Percy Jackson & the Olympians

A second longer teaser trailer for Fox's Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief has arrived. It apparently was found on the Wolverine DVD and it's the teaser they should've played in front of Harry Potter. If you remember back during the summer, this first teaser trailer was attached to Half-Blood Prince, and because it was so Potter-like and vague, it left audiences confused, especially because not that many people are familiar with this series of books. However, I'll admit that I'm now much more curious, enough to call it worth watching. I'm not a fan of director Chris Columbus, but this looks like it'll be fun?
Watch the second teaser for Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief:
Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief is directed by Chris Columbus, of everything from Adventures in Babysitting to Home Alone to Mrs. Doubtfire to Bicentennial Man to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets to the Rent remake to I Love You Beth Cooper from this year. The screenplay was written by Craig Titley of Scooby-Doo and the two Cheaper by the Dozen movies previously. This is based on Rick Riordan's series of children's books. 20th Century Fox is bringing Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief to theaters everywhere on February 12th, 2010 next year. Better?

The first couple books are pretty cheesey but the story is pretty sweet in the third and fourth books have yet to read the fifth, a little kiddy for my tastes, but i have been looking for a book like it since i was dissapointed by american gods.

The books aren't that bad. Not nearly up to the quality of Harry Potter, but since these books are more geared towards children Columbus is perfectly suited to direct a movie like this. Honestly, I read these books because how easy they are to read, but I do not really know how they can be advertised to a wide audience, not because of the mythology, but because they combine modern times with mythology. Just a hard sell if you ask me. Perfect casting though.

hmmm i always find the timing of movies and games and tv shows and books a little weird. i might be going crazy but i think this was timed to be sorta released after the new Dan Brown book the lost symbol because greek gods are a huge part of that book and im sure they knew a lot of people would read his book and then see this and be interested.

I like the idea of doing a story of the gods. But Chris Columbus is so safe, its just going to be a boring watch. I would like to see a director who could push the kids genre just a little bit and some what edgy. Kids can handle it.
At least thats what im hoping to see with Where the wild things are.

I like mythology, so I guess I find it a bit more interesting than others. And calling it cheesy, well I didn't really get that. I guess a lot of movies geared towards children can end up a bit cheesy though.

That looks like a big budget version of a monthly Disney Channel movie…

I'm somewhat ambivalent about this film. The last thing I want to do is tell people about my religion and have them make assumptions based on anything stupid the writers and director of this movie have done. (Thankfully, most people have forgotten Clash of the Titans by now.)

I highly suggest checking the books out. This series has potential to be a worthy successor to the Harry Potter throne.
