Kurtzman and Orci Developing a Big Screen Xombie Movie
September 22, 2009
by Alex Billington
Hot off the heels of all the Cowboys and Aliens news, writers and producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci have announced yet another comic book adaptation. DreamWorks is in negotiations to buy Xombie, a pitch about a zombie who is also a policeman based on a Devil’s Due comic book written by James Farr. The screenplay was pitched and written by a "cop-turned-scribe" named Will Beall, with Kurtzman and Orci in talks to produce (and not necessarily write). Beall is a former beat cop and anti-gang policeman in the 77th Division who recently became a homicide detective; he continues to serve in the LAPD while writing.
Xombie connects back to an original online animated series that James Farr created. You can still check that out at: Xombified.com. The story centers on a zombie cop named Dirge who attempts to saves humanity's remnants, particularly a young girl named Zoe, from evil zombies. According to THR, DreamWorks is in negotiations to acquire the source material. The logline for the movie version is being kept under wraps. Though I have a feeling it will be somewhat similar to that original story. Zombies and vampires seem to be the hot thing in Hollywood right now and this sounds pretty interesting. We'll see how it develops, I guess.

It's not a comic book adaptation, it's from a flash game series turned into a few graphic novels.

Wah, wah wah wahhhhhh.
Keep crying while they continue to count your dollars. Stop talking about them being hacks, and become something better. This is why you'll all sit here, nagging on people you'll never be, because you don't have the balls to do it yourself.

You're doing exactly what you're accusing everyone else of doing.

If Hollywood's got mountains of cocaine, you'd think they'd get more done.
