Platinum Studios Developing 'Mal Chance' Big Screen Adaptation
September 23, 2009
by Alex Billington
Platinum Studios has joined forces with producer Tony Krantz to develop a live-action feature from the Platinum Studios graphic novel Mal Chance, with Scott Murphy to adapt. Krantz, best known for "24" and Mulholland Drive, will produce with Platinum CEO Scott Mitchell Rosenberg. Mal Chance tells the story of Lola, part of an ancient clan of assassins targeted for death by a powerful gangster. Her only recourse is to bring down the gangster's entire operation with the help of an honest FBI agent who is unaware of her true identity. Sounds like a sexy, fun comic book action-thriller, much like Witchblade… Or so that's what I hope!
Mal Chance is a "wonderfully visual world steeped with contemporary and complex characters, all playing on the edge of life and death decisions," Krantz said. Hell, I was sold by that photo I found above, I don't need anything besides that. As long as they get a good budget, some sexy lead actress, and a competent director, then I'll be there opening day. We see so many damn comic book movies these days, that this one doesn't need a huge budget and a big studio to really be good. Krantz is also making his directorial debut on the film The Big Bang, but no director has been chosen for this adaptation yet. Stay tuned for updates!

I love it! Mal Chance is fantastic and I can't wait to see who they cast as the lead. Ever since Kill Bill, I've always pictured Tarantino as the perfect choice to direct a Mal Chance movie. Hope they consider him.

Yes! A comic book that resembles Witchblade! I hope the movie is as good as the Witchblade movie was!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!! (This amount of sarcasm can also be expressed with the TV show. And the anime.)

When firing a gun at someone, it's best to stick your vag out as much as you can, as the cartoon demonstrates quite well.
