Indie Trailer Sunday: Pawel Borowski's Polish Thriller 'Zero'
September 27, 2009
Source: Twitch
by Alex Billington
Continuing our new Indie Trailer Sunday tradition, today's new trailer is for a Polish thriller called Zero. It's the latest film from Polish filmmaker Pawel Borowski (of the short I Love You previously). Zero is 24 hours in the lives of a few people in a city and is a complete loop. I don't fully understand the concept, but I have a feeling it might be like an extension of Gaspar NoƩ's Irreversible, where the film takes the narrative and twists it in a more artistic and weird way. That said, this trailer is absolutely brilliant, and thanks to Twitch, you can check it out below. Although it doesn't have subtitles, it's still really awesome to watch.
Watch the trailer for Pawel Borowski's Zero:
The film's narrative principle follows the character who spoke the last word in the dialogue. It's the story of numerous characters and of whose fate we will learn as much as this narrative principle allows.
Zero is both written and directed by the up-and-coming Polish filmmaker Pawel Borowski, of only the short film I Love You previously. The project is produced by Opus Film based out of Poland and is apparently completed and ready to go and has already been screening, according to Twitch. We have no clue when or if this will ever be coming to the US, but we'll keeping our eye out for it at upcoming festivals. So stay tuned!

I don't understand how is this trailer brilliant to you. Maybe that's because I do understand every word
But there's one thing I have to say - polish trailers, or should I say 'our' trailers are rather awful so this one is the step in right direction.

Yeah, I don't see how that's brilliant. The trailer has no context unless you speak polish.

#2 I can asure you - it has no context even if you do speak polish.

Looks like a bunch of different stories interwoven, like Crash or 21 Grams.

Sounds like Muse is the music? I'm not sure if it really is or not but I've always felt if you put any Muse song to a trailer it makes it 10 times better for some reason.

Wow that… that didn't do anything for me in the slightest. I couldn't be more uninterested.

#5 totally right.
I'm a bit tired of this "bunch of stories happening at once– but don't worry! In the end they all connect :D" movie rehash business.

Discounting the language issue, I saw nothing on this trailer that WOWED me. I agree with #5 about his thoughts on this trailer.
Maybe subtitles would have helped its cause.

Well this trailer is crap, especially for sb who's Polish. I really don't know what's to appreciate here. It's poorly shot and acting is pathethic.

I appreciate the trailer. I'm quite intrigued, but then again I love stories with unique narrative structures. Thanks for the translation Borek.
