Marc Webb to Direct the Remake of Just Another Love Story
September 30, 2009
by Alex Billington
One of my favorite directors, Marc Webb (who guest blogged for us during the summer), has just been attached to another new project today coming off of the immense success of 500 Days of Summer. Webb is in negotiations to direct Just Another Love Story, a remake of the Danish thriller of the same name for Mandate Pictures. The original film, directed by Danish filmmaker Ole Bornedal, broke out at Sundance in 2008 and played at numerous festivals. I first saw it at Fantastic Fest last year and thought it was a good film, but not amazing. With Webb at the helm, however, he may be able turn it into something incredible.
Just Another Love Story, which is ironically not just another love story, is about a crime photographer who pretends to be the boyfriend of an amnesiac, only to face the wrath of the actual boyfriend when he finds out about the deception. He first meets her because he feels responsible for the car crash she gets in which puts her in a coma and causes her to lose her memory. Through some comedic moments her family thinks he's her boyfriend and he slowly comes to accept that and actually fall in love with her. It's a rather intriguing story and is ripe for a good American remake. No screenwriter has been named for this project just yet.
Most people probably haven't heard of Just Another Love Story, but having seen the film, I can say that it would be great in Webb's hands. Webb is an extremely talented director and I've been anxious to find out what his follow-up to 500 Days of Summer would be. I'm hoping it's this or Age of Rage or The Spectacular Now adaptation. Either way, I'm already getting impatient, I'm need of another great Marc Webb film stat!

500 days of summer was really good and if he directs this movie it well also be good, but i would wonder how much of a difference his view would be from the original movie which wasn't so bad.

I love that poster in the picture. The title and then that picture makes you think "Wait, this can't be just another love story." And that is intriguing.
