Robert Downey Jr. Might Be in Steven Spielberg's Harvey
Earlier today we keyed you in on the status of Steven Spielberg's forthcoming Abraham Lincoln biopic, but there was a tidbit of information hidden within that same Variety update that otherwise might have gotten overlooked. Apparently Robert Downey Jr. might be the top contender to fill the lead role in Spielberg's remake of the 1950 Jimmy Stewart film Harvey. In a fleeting mention the article simply says: "Spielberg is presently focusing on his 'reimagining' of Harvey, with Robert Downey Jr. possibly playing the man who sees an invisible rabbit." Blink and you could've missed it. Thankfully we've brought it to your attention.

Check This Out: Final Poster for Disney's A Christmas Carol
Hopefully everyone got to watch and enjoy the official trailer for Robert Zemeckis' A Christmas Carol? If not, you can check it out here. Disney has debuted one final poster for the movie today over on Cinematical. I'm somewhat amused to see that Disney's entire marketing campaign seems to be focused around that one scene where Scrooge puts that giant candle dowser over one of the ghosts and goes flying through the air for about 20 minutes. It seems as if they're trying to sell this whole movie as a big cinematic gimmick, where it'll be an "experience" to see that scene in 3D in theaters! Bah humbug, I say! Anyway, check this out below.

DC Entertainment Has No Current Plans for Superman?
Comic book movies and their companies have been at the forefront of industry talk over the past two weeks. First there was Disney's huge $4 billion acquisition of Marvel Entertainment, and then Warner Bros. joined forces with DC Comics to form DC Entertainment to counter the Mouse Power House. But now that the industry is sifting through the red tape and the ink is drying on these new contracts, we're finally getting to some project specifics. MTV caught up with Diane Nelson, head of the recently formed DC Entertainment where she offered information on one of DC Comic's most iconic properties and it's not exactly good news.

Must Watch: Creepy Trailer for Paranormal Activity Debuts!
Paramount has just debuted the official trailer for Oren Peli's Paranormal Activity today, an indie film that showed at Slamdance a few years ago but has been lying dormant till now. It's a creepy thriller being called Blair Witch for this generation about a couple being haunted by a demon. I had the chance to see this at Telluride and it really is scary as hell, but also a great film. If you want to stay completely fresh going into this (which I suggest), then don't watch this trailer, but if you need to be convinced then go ahead. I'm not fond of their choice to use the camera footage of the test screening audience, but that's just me. Watch it!

Dune Remake to be a Hard PG-13, Massive Adventure Epic
It's been two years since Peter Berg confirmed he was attached to direct the third adaptation of Frank Herbert's seminal science fiction novel Dune. Of course, the first adaptation was auteur David Lynch's avant-garde, torpid 1984 film, the second being Sci Fi Channel'sminiseries in 2000. But little has been said about this third attempt to corral the story of Paul Atreides and his family amidst a futuristic feudal interstellar empire as they take control of the lone source of spice melange, the most valuable resource in the universe. It's no wonder Dune has proved a worthy foe when condensed into film form.

Steven Spielberg's Lincoln Will Still See the Light of Day
It's been years since a Steven Spielberg project based on the life of Abraham Lincoln was announced. The production ran into budget issues back in February, and since then there haven't been any further developments. But with recent active development surrounding another Lincoln-based historical drama (Robert Redford's The Conspirator), many have been wondering if Spielberg's Lincoln would ever come to fruition and if so, what the effect of another Lincoln-based film on the market might have on it. But this is Spielberg, ladies and gentlemen, and as a recent report from Variety proves, he's not one to be intimidated.

Interesting Concept Art Surfaces for Duncan Jones' Mute
Duncan Jones made one hell of a splash this summer with his indie sci-fi picture Moon. Now he's got us all wondering exactly what's coming next. Rumblings have come from Jones himself about several projects, but our friends at SlashFilm pointed us in the direction of some fresh new concept art that has shown up on the Liberty Films (Jones' production company) official website which highlights a project in development called Mute (we last talked about it here). The single piece of art paints the picture of a Blade Runner-esque future with the dark tones of a film noir. Upon closer inspection there are certainly some interesting details.

Details of Michael Sheen's Character in Tron Legacy Revealed
Lately British actor Michael Sheen has had quite a busy schedule. Most recently he was up at the Toronto Film Festival promoting his soccer (football!) biopic The Damned United, and later this year he'll make the rounds greeting teen girls when he starts promoting New Moon. And next March we'll hear his voice as the White Rabbit in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. While Wonderland seems like it will certainly be a unique trip down the rabbit hole, I've been more interested in Sheen's involvement in another Disney property: Tron Legacy. And now, thanks to ComingSoon, we've got some details about his character.

Legendary Actor Patrick Swayze Has Passed Away Today
This has been a tough year of great losses for the entertainment industry. There's no need to recap every single one, but of course many of you, I'm sure know those close to your heart who are no longer with us. Unfortunately, today Hollywood lost another legend in actor Patrick Swayze who passed away at the age of 57 today, as reported by THR. A statement from his publicist said the Dirty Dancing actor "passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months." Swayze was truly a cinematic treasure and he will be missed. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.

Check This Out: Michael Jackson's This Is It Official Trailer
The concert tour, the final performance that will never be is coming to the big screen this October for only two weeks. This Is It is a behind-the-scenes documentary chronicling the rehearsal process of what was to be Michael Jackson's greatest stage performance, and probably his last. Sony, with the support of Michael Jackson's Estate, has rushed the doc to its release in a move that feels a bit insensitive, but upon watching the trailer, the excitement and absolute joy seen on Jackson's face, the crew, the spectacular creativity and artistic vision, it all really does feel like, as director Kenny Ortega puts it, "Michael's gift to his fans."

Harrison Ford Says the Story for Indiana Jones 5 is Ready
We've all read Shia LaBeouf's quotes, we know he's all set for the fifth installment of one of my most beloved trilogies of all time - wait, there was a fourth Indy film? Hm. Must've missed that - oh, that's right, it was terrible and made me loathe everyone involved. Right. Well, we were all updated that the fifth installment, tentatively titled just Indiana Jones 5, was in the research phase a few months back, but according to People, Indy himself, Harrison Ford, is ready to don the fedora and crack his whip again - depending on the script, of course. Although apparently Lucas and Spielberg have already figured out what the story is.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan Joins Red Dawn, Eyes Lobo Project
When Watchmen was released back in March, Jeffrey Dean Morgan definitely made a splash as the dark, ironically named anti-hero, The Comedian. After Hollywood saw that he was more than just another guy on "Grey's Anatomy," the offers started pouring in, and he's a pretty busy man. Though he just wrapped filming on the Vertigo comic book adaptation of The Losers, Variety reports that he's already in final negotiations to join the cast of the Red Dawn remake for MGM that Dan Bradley is directing this fall. But apparently Morgan's also interested in another recently announced comic book film adaptation on that's the horizon.
