Warner Brothers & DC Comics Form DC Entertainment Inc.
A response to Disney's acquisition of Marvel maybe? It seems that DC Comics properties are finally going to see the same kind of structure and stability that Marvel has displayed over the past few years, as Warner Bros. Entertainment as created a brand-spankin'-new company, dubbed DC Entertainment Inc., that will "fully realize the power and value of the DC Comics brand and characters across all media and platforms." Or so the press release says. DC Entertainment is to be run by Diane Nelson, former president of Warner Premiere (the studio's direct-to-video arm) that cranked out quite a few movies based on DC properties.

Sunshine's Alex Garland is Writing the Judge Dredd Remake
British screenwriter Alex Garland, the man behind 28 Days Later and Sunshine, two of my favorite screenplays of the last ten years, is, according to Empire via British comics artist Mark "Jock" Simpson's Twitter, currently writing a fresh adaptation of Judge Dredd. Now, Judge Dredd, as you may recall, was brought to life by Sylvester Stallone in the 1995 film directed by Danny Cannon. You may also remember, that that movie was terrible awesome by most accounts a failure. But with over 30 years of source comics from 2000AD, the dystopian police-state satire is set to see the screen again (as we first reported last year).

Badass Short TV Spot for James McTeigue's Ninja Assassin
A badass short 30-second TV spot for James McTeigue's Ninja Assassin has appeared online in high def recently and it's a definite must watch. I've actually seen the movie and I can guarantee that it has some awesome fight scenes, as hinted at in the footage. This TV spot may even be better than the first trailer, since it just gets right into the ninja action, which is all anyone cares about with this movie. The story isn't the greatest, but you know what, who cares, its got some amazing visuals, and it's fun as hell to watch. I'll be hyping this as much as I can because it has a bad release date (Thanksgiving) and because I love McTeigue.

3rd Biggest Overseas Box Office Earner Isn't What You Think
Most of this industry is obsessed with the domestic box office results, but we can't forget that overseas box office results are just as important as well. While we don't normally care about box office numbers, this was just too shocking. As of this moment, Titanic is the #1 overseas box office earner, at $1.24 billion, followed by Return of the King at $742 million. This week, the #3 spot, currently held by Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, will be overtaken by one of this year's releases. What is it? Not what you think. Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs has passed $657.5 million at the overseas box office. Are you kidding me?!

Must Watch: Jason Reitman's Up in the Air Teaser Trailer!
Paramount has launched the teaser trailer for Jason Reitman's Up in the Air on SlashFilm following its debut at the Telluride Film Festival this past weekend and in advance of its debut at the Toronto Film Festival this upcoming weekend. While this is a full 2-minute trailer, it's much more of a teaser, featuring a great voiceover from George Clooney (rather, a speech) and a clips of scenes and great moments from the film. It's a brilliant first-look at this and it should definitely have you hooked. Coming from someone who has seen the film (read my review), this does give you a fantastic idea of what to expect. Watch and enjoy!

Nicolas Cage Drops Out as the Villain from Gondry's Green Hornet
We knew there was something up with the news from earlier this week that Nicolas Cage had been cast in two more action projects. THR's Heat Vision has separately confirmed today that Cage has dropped out of Michel Gondry's The Green Hornet, in which he was supposed to play a "gangster villain." We first ran this casting news back in July just before Comic-Con, but apparently he's been "in negotiations" ever since, and couldn't work out a deal with the studio in the end. So for the time being, Gondry and Rogen are moving forward without a villain, as shooting on Green Hornet started a few weeks ago (we also wrote about that).

Halle Berry Cast in Great White Shark Thriller 'Dark Tide'
Is Shark Week over yet? I love shark movies, everything from Jaws to Deep Blue Sea. I've been waiting to see that Meg movie, but since that probably won't be happening for a long time, I'll settle for this. Variety reports that Halle Berry has joined the cast of a new action-thriller titled Dark Tide. She will play a diving instructor who returns to the deep after a near-fatal incident with a Great White shark. Unfortunately this guy probably won't be a genetically enhanced shark (like in Deep Blue Sea), but I have feeling it will be as life-like as they can make it, adding more thrill to the experience. Shooting will start later this year.

Oh Yes, There Will Be a 'Rampage' on Carnahan's A-Team
It looks like the fighting arena just might be the new hot spot for fresh talent. First we had news of MMA fighter Gina Carano leading a Steven Soderbergh picture, and now THR reports that UFC fighter Quinton "Rampage" Jackson has stepped up to fill the role of B.A. Baracus (a role made iconic by Mr. T) in the upcoming big screen adaptation of The A-Team. Before today's official news, rappers-turned-actors like The Game and Common were rumored to fill the role, but it looks like Baracus needed a bit more muscle. Jackson joins the already confirmed Bradley Cooper and Liam Neeson in the movie, which is shooting now.

Full Theatrical Trailer for Disney's The Princess and the Frog
Disney has just debuted the second full-length theatrical trailer for The Princess and the Frog, their return to both hand-drawn animation and classic princess fairy tales. Disney Animation has a few great releases this fall, starting with Toy Story 1 and 2 in 3D on October 2nd, and continuing with The Princess and the Frog in December. After seeing the documentary Waking Sleeping Beauty a few days ago, I'm even more excited for this, because I got a glimpse of the old hand-drawn animation world and I'm so happy to see them going back to using that style once again. It really just looks charming and wonderful, I can't wait!

Check This Out: Teaser Poster for Sxv'leithan Essex's Growl
Whoa, I don't know what this is for, but it looks awesome. ShockTillYouDrop has debuted an early teaser poster for a new horror film called Growl that is being written and directed by Sxv'leithan Essex. If you don't know, Essex is a talented music video director and writer who is making his feature directing debut on this. I also found a second early sales poster on his MySpace which I've included below. In addition to Essex, producer Lee Cleary (X-Men: The Last Stand, Rise of the Silver Surfer, The A-Team) has jumped on-board to shepherd the project. Shooting will start in 2010 for an expected release in 2011. Check 'em out below!

New Line & Tolkien Finally Settle Lord of the Rings Litigation
Though the exact terms of the settlement were not released, THR reports today that New Line Cinema, the Tolkien estate, and publisher Harper Collins have finally settled the big lawsuit over profits from the Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings films. For those of you who aren't enraptured with the legal goings-on of Hollywood, the Tolkien estate had sued New Line for an approximated $150 million in damages last year for failing to pay the 7.5 percent of the gross they were contractually obligated to receive from the three films -- which, need I remind you, netted around $6 billion combined. Finally all Tolkien lawsuits are now settled!

Another Weinstein Reboot: Stephen King's Children of the Corn
Another day, another remake. According to Variety and the still-surviving Weinstein Company, Stephen King's classic short story Children of the Corn is set to be re-imagined and brought to the screen yet again. Previously seen in the 1984 film, directed by Fritz Kiersch, the book tells the story of a boy preacher who persuades the children in a small Nebraska town to kill all of the adults. Tapped to transform King's prose to script is Ehren Kruger, who is unfortunately co-responsible for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen most recently. Yikes, I know. More horror reboots? Couldn't this classic just stay a classic forever?
