Epic New Batch of Photos from Roland Emmerich's 2012
Why haven't we seen another trailer for this? That Japanese one was cool, but only one full trailer? A big batch of new photos from Roland Emmerich's 2012 have popped up in the UK on the blog Hey U Guys. There are some new shots of Danny Glover as the President as well as John Cusack, Woody Harrelson, Amanda Peet, and Thandie Newton. I've also been saying that Harrelson has been having a fantastic year, with Zombieland and Defendor so far, but I'm not so sure if that'll hold up after 2012. His hippie nature-loving weatherman character in this just looks way too kooky and not at all fun. Anyway, check these out!

First Photos and Behind-the-Scenes Videos from The Fighter
Well this was unexpected. SlashFilm has discovered a big batch of behind-the-scenes photos and videos on IAmRogue.com for David O. Russell's film The Fighter starring Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale. We've written about this project quite a time, mainly when it was to be directed by Darren Aronofsky a few years back, but now Russell has taken over and actually started shooting. Wahlberg and Bale can be seen in a few photos from the set, including the one above and the one at the very bottom (in the boxing ring), and more on the site. There's also a great on-set video below with Wahlberg talking about playing boxer Mickey Ward.

Tom Tykwer Directing German-Language Film 'Drei' Next
Run Lola Run and Perfume director Tom Tykwer is set to make his first German-language feature in nearly a decade titled Drei (which means Three in German). The film is a comedy-drama centered on a love triangle. Tykwer's last German-language film was The Princess and the Warrior from 2000. Produced by Berlin-based X Filme, Drei is described as a "tragicomic film about love, morality and gender in late modern Germany, set against late modern Berlin backdrops -- a story of a love triangle with social and cultural-philosophical depth." Sounds like it could be a good return to form for Tykwer and a return to homeland.

First Look: First Full Photo of The Losers Cast in Puerto Rico
Sylvain White's big comic book adaptation of The Losers has been shooting in Puerto Rico for the last few months. It's one of a few comic book adaptations coming up next year that I'm looking forward to quite a bit, namely because the cast is so awesome. Thanks to Idris Elba's Twitter (via Collider), we now have our very first unofficial look at five of the Losers in costume on the set in Puerto Rico. From left to right, you'll see: Idris Elba, Columbus Short, Chris Evans, Oscar Jaenada, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Sure it's not much, but I think this looks cool, and I'm already getting excited for this just seeing basic shots like this. Take a look!

Wow, this came out of nowhere, right? Summit Entertainment announced today that they're bringing the Fast & Furious team over to their boat to reboot and re-imagine Highlander . Neal H. Moritz is producing and Justin Lin, who also directed The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, is set to direct. The good news is that Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, who together wrote Iron Man and Punisher: War Zone, are attached to write the screenplay. Peter Davis, long time producer of Highlander films, will also produce. Summit's film will expand on the original Highlander's core mythology of immortals battling amongst us. Exciting!

Toronto Interview: Tim Blake Nelson and Edward Norton
The last interview I did up in Toronto was with two of my own favorite actors - Tim Blake Nelson and Edward Norton. By now you've probably heard about their new film Leaves of Grass (read my review), that Nelson directed and Norton stars in as two brothers, one a stoner the other a professor. I caught up with the two of them the morning after the premiere of their film, so both were in high spirits. We talked about developing the story in Leaves of Grass, figuring out the distinctions between the two brothers, shooting Norton twice in scenes, balancing the humor and action, and maybe even a little about the Hulk.

Enron Scandal Moving from the Stage to the Big Screen
With all that's been happening in economic scandal news from Bernie Madoff to the Lehman Brothers, it's surprising to think that barely 8 years ago we were dealing with another industrial scandal from the Enron Corporation. While the real story behind the electricity, natural gas, pulp and paper, and communications company was brilliantly highlighted in the 2005 documentary Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room, a play is currently selling out shows in London, and soon to be showcased on Broadway in the spring. Variety reports that this play, simply titled Enron, will be adapted into a feature length drama for Columbia.

Darren Aronofsky Developing a New Gritty Heist Thriller
XYZ Films & Time Inc. Studios have partnered with Protozoa Pictures to produce a gritty heist thriller based on the daring robbery of the Securitas Depot in Tonbridge, a £53 Million Sterling score that became known as the "world's biggest heist." The project is being developed by filmmaker Darren Aronofsky and being eyed as directing vehicle as well. The story of the robbery was originally told in the Sports Illustrated article "Breaking the Bank" by Jon Wertheim as well as the non-fiction book "Heist: The Inside Story of the World's Biggest Robbery" by Howard Sounes. Kerry Williamson (Fork in the Road) is adapting the script for this.

First Look: Teaser Poster for Dwayne Johnson's Tooth Fairy
Okay, I'm going to admit right now that I'm not writing about this because I'm looking forward to it by any means, but rather just because it's our very first look at anything from this upcoming movie. Our friends over at IMPAwards scored the first poster for Fox's upcoming family comedy Tooth Fairy that stars Dwayne Johnson, Ashley Judd, Julie Andrews, and Billy Crystal. Yep, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is still making cheesy family comedies, and instead of playing a failing football player like in The Game Plan, this time he's playing a failing hockey player, how exciting. If you're interested, then check out the poster below.

TIFF Interview: The Informant Director Steven Soderbergh
Here is my interview with director Steven Soderbergh that I did during the Toronto Film Festival. He wouldn't let me shoot video, so I had to record it and transcribe it, so here it is in its entirety below. I will gladly admit that Soderbergh has been and still is one of my all-time favorite directors. I love his style, I love his experimentation, I love everything he does, and I loved The Informant. Half of this interview focuses on that film and its development, but in the second half we get into some interesting discussion regarding the rumored end of his career and where he is planning to go and what exactly he is planning to do. Read on!

Warner Bros Moving Forward on a Sherlock Holmes Sequel
This is not too uncommon, especially for Warner Brothers, but it's still exciting news nonetheless. Warner Brothers has already decided to move forward on the development on a sequel to Guy Ritchie's Sherock Holmes. The movie won't hit theaters until Christmas Day, three months from now, but WB has hired writers Kieran and Michele Mulroney to start drafting a script for the sequel. The THR article claims that "Brad Pitt has had discussions with producers to star as Holmes' nemesis Moriarty" though is no deal in place there yet. Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law are expected to return as Holmes and Dr. Watson as well.
