Kristen Bell to Star Opposite Christina Aguilera in Burlesque
October 9, 2009
by Ethan Anderton
The combination of Kristen Bell, Christina Aguilera and burlesque can only mean one thing: Justin Timberlake is a dirty rotten liar, because sexy didn't come back until just now. THR reports that Bell (Couples Retreat) will join singer Christina Aguilera in the Steve Antin directed feature Burlesque, which follows the rivalry of the undoubtedly scantily clad characters of Bell and Aguilera as they fight for the spotlight in "a Los Angeles neo-burlesque club, reminiscent of the nightclub in Bob Fosse's Cabaret." Bell joins a cast that already includes Cher, Stanley Tucci and the promise of a whole lot of musical numbers.
While Aguilera plays an "ambitious small-town girl with a big-town voice" Bell will take on the role of her rival Nikki, "the loose-cannon lead dancer and main attraction at the club who spirals out of control when Aguilera's character suddenly gets the spotlight." Sounds a little too similar to Chicago but without all the murder and lemon-faced singing of Renee Zellweger. While Kristen Bell was fun in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Fanboys, I haven't exactly been a fan of her more recent work on NBC's "Heroes" and just seeing the trailer for When in Rome almost made me throw up. Either way shooting for Burlesque is supposed to start in November, and we'll be sure to post the first set pictures as soon as they surface.

My first thought when looking at the pictures is: Those two couldn't be more different looking, Kristen Bell looks naturally pretty, while Christina looks….painted whorish?
Makes me rethink my past infatuations with Xtina, lol.

judging from the picture…….christiana aguilera could play the joker in batman and she wouldn't need any make-up. damn, is she a freaky looking chick.

I agree with #1, the set-up of this sounds exactly like Showgirls. Joe Eszterhas must be super pissed. Also, I don't really see the appeal of either of these two women. Couldn't they get some attractive girls to be in this?
