Neil Marshall and Ghost House Pictures Will Burst in 3-D

Sam Raimi has always had a penchant for turning what's usually cheesy and wholly unbelievable into fun motion pictures. While the Evil Dead series could easily have turned into horror junk, it instead reached cult classic status quickly. And with the Spider-Man franchise, I think Raimi successfully blended melodrama with spectacular action for a mostly fantastic (forget about the third one) comic book film series. Raimi's Ghost House Pictures will team-up with The Descent director Neil Marshall (seen above) to bring what looks to be a somewhat silly story in a very cool package with the nearly self-explanatory title Burst 3-D.
The script, written by Gary Dauberman, follows a group of travelers stranded in a blizzard who find themselves being stalked and terrorized by an unseen, malicious force that causes them to spontaneously combust. And of course they will combust in front of your faces in glorious digital 3-D. As one who has complained about the combination of 3-D and horror in the past, I'm also one who trusts Sam Raimi implicitly and if he's made the decision for his label to stand behind this crazy sounding story, then I can't help but be excited. For some reason I feel the right blend of crazy. With Lionsgate on for distribution, it can't be any worse than their recently acquired rights for a Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake in 3-D.

This sounds like a sick, twisted movie. I'm tripping out just reading the second paragraph. Yikes!

Neil Marshall is too comfortable in his shoes. He does middle of the road work and gets paid way too much for what he gives us. I am so tired of these same names and then being disappointed at the theater.
