Jim Sturgess & Kirsten Dunst Cast in Sci-Fi Film Upside Down

I love the sci-fi genre and usually seek out great sci-fi indies, including little seen films like Mr. Nobody. Upside Down is a new project from Argentinian filmmaker Juan Diego Solanas that is being described as "an alternate reality and groundbreaking" sci-fi film. According to Production Weekly, Solanas has cast Jim Sturgess and Kirsten Dunst, two great actors, to star in this project. The very, very basic plot is that "a man searches an alternate universe for a long-lost love from his youth." However, the concept is much more twisted and incredible beyond that, as you might expect for a sci-fi film with a title like Upside Down.
Here's the best description of the concept from the European Film Market brochure (via SlashFilm):
Look up towards the sky and rub your eyes because you won't believe what you see: cities, forests, and oceans with their own inverted gravity, only an arm's length away, yet completely unreachable. Take a leap over to this alternate reality, two worlds – one above, one below - facing each other, and you'll land in the extraordinary world of Upside Down, the new ground-breaking film of Juan Solanas.
Adam is a seemingly ordinary guy in a very extraordinary universe. He lives humbly trying to make ends meet, but his romantic spirit holds on to the memory of a girl he met once upon a time from another world, an inverted affluent world with its own gravity, directly above but beyond reach… a girl named Eve. Their childhood flirtation becomes an impossible love. But when he catches a glimpse of grown-up Eve on television, nothing will get in the way of getting her back… Not even the law or science!
Sounds pretty damn cool? Apparently there were early rumors floating around saying that Emile Hirsch was going to be cast, but he was replaced by Sturgess. I like both actors, but for this specifically, I'm glad to hear that Sturgess got the role instead. He was great in Across the Universe and in 21 and will fit in perfectly in a sci-fi world like this. I'm already intrigued enough by the concept alone and by the cast to seek this out as soon as possible. I'm hoping Solanas has all the funding he needs to start shooting right away, as I'd love to see this at a festival next year (sooner the better, right?). We'll keep you updated on its production status.

I wish this meant Dunst won't be Spider Man 4.

I am sorry.. but I would not cross into a different reality for Kirsten Dunst! And Jim Sturgess can do much better. Great idea and a great story.. Just needs a great leading lady!
