Sony Pictures Classics has debuted the US trailer for Pedro Almodóvar's Broken Embraces starring the gorgeous Penélope Cruz. This already premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and was released in Spain back in March and is just now being brought to US theaters. If you're a fan of Almodóvar, you'll probably already planning on seeing this, as it lives up to most of his past films. If you're not a fan of Almodóvar and are just interested in checking out a beautifully colored (a Pedro trademark) romantic romp through Spain, then check this out. I wasn't the biggest fan of the film, but then again I'm not that familiar with Almodóvar.

@4 not funny. The Latino people are one of the most diverse in the world. Summing them up with a statement like that is rude and frankly ignorant. Besides this is a Spanish film, made in Spain not Mexico or even North America for that matter. And to say she can't act is just not true. She made many of her English speaking films before really even speaking the language. A feat I challenge any Actor to tackle.

#1, Peneloope Cruz can act….she was stellar in "Volver". This looks great. In the meantime, I'm going to bone up on the rest of the Almodovar films I haven't seen yet. So far, I've only see "Talk to Her" and "Volver" - both great movies.

I am a writer and actress who lived in Madrid for two years. I have seen most of Almodovar's films, and he is one of the greatest living filmmakers and my personal favorite. The negative comments above are extremely ignorant and insulting to serious art and film lovers.
Almodovar is a genius and a true artist. If you don't like him or "get" him–fine, but don't insult his films simply because you don't understand them.
And saying Penelope Cruz can't act is ridiculous. Perhaps the person who made this comment should trying making films in other languages. She is a wonderfully diverse and dynamic actress who is capable of portraying a wide range of characters and emotions. She has been stellar in every Almodovar film, and was wonderful in both "Vicki y Christina Barcelona" (the Woody Allen film), and "Elegy" (based on Philip Roth's "The Dying Animal"), both from 2008.
Perhaps people should become familiar with the filmmaker's work before making comments based on ignorance and stupidity.
