Rumor: Jude Law and Robert De Niro Cast in Marvel's Thor?

I'm not sure why there are so many superhero related casting rumors hitting this weekend, but they're all too good to pass up, and most of them seem like they could end up being true. AICN has another casting scoop this time from an interview with actor Matthias Schweighöfer (seen in Valkyrie and The Red Baron) in the German edition of GQ who reveals two big names related to Marvel's Thor movie. Matthias said that not only is he in the running for a role in Thor, but that Jude Law and Robert De Niro have apparently already joined the cast. But in what roles? No one can seem to figure out who either of them would play.
I agree with what Harry said about these two guys being "the sort of actors I would expect [to see cast in] a Kenneth Branagh helmed Thor film," but they seem like very big actors for non-leading roles. We already know Thor has: Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Jaimie Alexander, and Colm Feore, but where could they fit Jude Law and Robert De Niro? Maybe De Niro is playing Odin, Thor's father? We still don't know how much of this movie is set on Earth and how much is set on Asgard, the mythical world where the gods reside. Therefore, we don't know where or who the various supporting characters will be.
Either way, this is a very interesting rumor that has a chance of actually turning out to be true. This would definitely up the ante if Thor got two actors of that caliber and would also make Paramount quite happy, as this is going to be a very hard movie to sell to audiences that aren't already familiar with Thor and Marvel's universe. We'll be sure to let you know what we hear and if this turns out true, so stay tuned for updates!

aint Brian Blessed rumored to been casted as Odin and Tom Hiddleston is casted as Loki already. i believe Robert DeNiro and Jude Law are going to be casted as a member of the Warriors Three.

Jude Law fits perfectly in this movie actually. Think of his character in AI, only small, and more guiding. DeNiro as Odin, that makes sense. Sometimes these guys just love movies and maybe comics and don't mind a bit part. While Avengers was planned, I'm sure Jackson just thought it'd be cool to be Nick Fury for a bit.
