Sin Nombre's Cary Fukunaga Directing New Jane Eyre Adaptation

If you were lucky enough to see Sin Nombre earlier this year, you're probably now as a big of a supporter of director Cary Fukunaga as anyone else is who saw it. Variety reports that Fukunaga is next set to direct a feature adaptation Charlotte Bronte's seminal novel "Jane Eyre" first published in 1847. We've already seen numerous adaptations of the book over the years, including most recently the Charlotte Gainsbourg-starring version from 1996. Up-and-coming British screenwriter Moira Buffini, of the Tamara Drewe adaptation, wrote this script. Fukunaga's version will focus on the more gothic elements of the classic 19th century story.
Ellen Page was previously attached to star in this version as the governess who falls in love with her surly employer who has a dark secret, but is no longer attached. Fukunaga will now start casting this on his own. I'm not particularly a fan of period pieces, so this doesn't really interest me at the moment. Obviously it depends on who he casts and how he develops the project. I do admit that I am more interested than usual because it Fukunaga's follow-up to Sin Nombre and I think he's a talented director who is gaining more recognition every day. I'll be curious to see if this is yet another great adaptation of such a famous novel.

Sin nombre was a good movie and well directed. I just wish they would had shown more of MS-13 in mexico because they are technically not mexicans, but they have connections with them. I hope he does a good job with the adaptation with the book. Cant wait to see what he does.

This will be interesting. I found it strange that they're already adapting so quickly after the last one–the 2006 version was spectacular–but it'll be fun to see it done as a feature again.
(But I'll hold out on judging until I see his casting.)
