Hold Steady, Letterman Writer Collaborates on Fargo Rock City

Fargo Rock City: A Heavy Metal Odyssey in Rural North Dakota, Chuck Klosterman's 2001 memoir chronicling his time growing up in North Dakota and banding together with the few other metal-heads in his high school, has been acquired by Craig Finn, frontman of The Hold Steady, and Tom Ruprecht, longtime writer on "The Late Show with David Letterman." The duo will be co-writing and producing the feature, a screenplay set in the 1980s revolving around a group of high school senior social misfits who attempt to break out of their geeky stereotype by living the life of sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll.
According to THR: "The pic will concentrate on particular portions of the book, including a chapter in which a faulty ATM dispenses excessive amounts of money to Klosterman, which both Finn and Ruprecht say they see as metaphors of the gilded age and easy credit of both the 1980’s and the past few years."
So, why these two? Ruprecht should be obvious, being that he's worked on the Emmy-nominated "Late Show" for over a decade. But while Finn may not be as obvious a choice to pen the script, he may, in fact, be the most qualified of the two. His childhood in the Midwest and musical roots are excellent fodder for this adaptation. As are his band's character-driven songs about the teenage existence. I've not read any of Klosterman's nonfiction, but I do love me some metal. The bigger the hair the better (generally speaking, of course). Is anyone excited for this 80's coming-of-age story? Or, after Brütal Legend, are you metaled out?

I'm curious to see how/where they film North Dakota. The title suggests Fargo, but nothing that exciting happens here.

I loved the book, but I do remember an interview with Klosterman a few years ago concerning adapting Killing Yourself To Live. Klosterman was unwilling to sell the rights for himself as a character. I wonder if this has changed or if they're going to take him out of the story all together.
