The Film Feed: Episode 27 - Wild Things, Citizens, & Coens!

They're back! In this episode of The Film Feed, Will, Sean, and Clark return after a hiatus of more than two months and ramp things up with three in-depth and exciting reviews, starting with Spike Jonze's Where the Wild Things Are, followed by a moral discussion about F. Gary Gray's Law Abiding Citizen, ending with a long talk about the Coen Brothers' brilliant A Serious Man. Of course, you can expect the usual spirited discussion from these guys as they cover those three films and chat about the latest Netflix Instant Watch titles and the newest theatrical releases. Thanks for defining that undefinable something that I didn't like about Where The Wild Things Are. They just didn't SAY anything. I think they might have shown a little personal growth in Max, had the film not ended where it did. On the other hand, he's just a kid, and maybe he wasn't at all changed by his experiences as a king.

Great episode guys…
Though I would have to disagree with your review of Where The Wild Things Are a little.
I didn't feel like it was a kids movie or that it was that good…
I loved the first act, I thought it captured childhood so well,
but the rest of the film seemed to fall apart for me…
Also: why does no one show respect to the great James Gandolfini!
That man is amazing in Where The Wild Things Are
..

I just had a chance to see A Serious Man and have to agree that it is easily one of their best films. I loved how it was put together and the J.J. Abrams looking Michael Stuhlbarg was fantastic. I'm guessing there will be at the very least a Golden Globe in his future for this role.
As for that opening sequence. Random as hell but it actually does fit with the movie. Clark hit the nail on the head by not knowing what it had to do with. As long as you "accept the mystery", you realize it has nothing to do with anything……I think!
Everyone needs t see this movie.
