Hitman's Xavier Gens Set to Direct Action Thriller 'The Fallout'

After previously directing Hitman and at one point being rumored to direct the new Conan movie, it looks like French filmmaker Xavier Gens' next project will actually be The Fallout, set to start shooting in February, 2010 in Eastern Europe (via ScreenDaily). The film, being produced and sold by ContentFilm, is set in a post-apocalyptic New York. Story details haven't been officially revealed yet, but it's being called "a thriller that combines elements of Assault on Precinct 13 with Lord of the Flies in a story of survival." From the mind of the guy who brought us Frontier(s), this project sounds like it'll be something very unique.
"Xavier's vision for this film is extraordinary. He brings a visual edge to this fascinating exploration of the human condition." producer Ross Dinerstein said. "With a collective of 'End of the World' movies hitting the theatres presently, this film will undoubtedly stand out like a ravenous pit bull in a school playground… brace yourselves cause this film has a serious bite to it!" said Producer Darryn Welch. What a choice of words. I don't think I want a pit bull barking at me in my movie, I'd rather let it kick ass on its own, right? The Fallout was written by newcomers Karl Mueller and Eron Sheean. Stay tuned for more updates on this!

Frontier(s) is an amazing film. Really showed that French film-makers can take the basic principals being used in American horror flicks like Hostel and apply them in their films to effect. I highly recommend everybody check out Frontier(s) if you liked Hostel and such, cause it will blow you away.
Sucked to see him make Hostel after Frontier(s), so hopefully this will put him back on the right path.

Just curious would anyone know if this has anything to do with the video game fallout because that game is like a movie all in itself it would be incredible to see that be brought to film.

This doesn't have anything to do with the games Rich. If Bethesda did go ahead with a Fallout movie I imagine it would be called "Fallout" and not "The Fallout."

Rich, I agree. Fallout has so much potential and I would really love to see it on the big screen. Everytime I see the preview for Legion and I see the Paradise Falls sign I get really excited and think for a split second "NO WAY!!" but then I am severely disappointed.

Well if it has nothing officially to do with the Game. They sure are taking alot of the Elements and the Name. Maybe someone just doesn't want to pony up the cash to get the rights.

I had read somewhere that they were going to make a movie based on Fallout. I'm wondering if this may be it. They may not want to use the direct name of the game for other reasons so who knows.
Sounds interesting enough. We shall see what happens in the coming months.

What #5 said…it sure does have a lot of similarities to the game. I mean you cant have a post apocalyptic wasteland and have Fallout in same name without people thinking hmmm ripoff much???
Plus yeah Hitman was kinda horrible besides some good action scenes.
