New Update Promises Sin City 2 Will Start Shooting in Late 2010

I feel like I've written this same story once or twice before? It seems like every six months we get another "update" on Sin City 2 that claims that it'll be ready to shoot the next year, but it never is, and nothing ever happens. This time, Mania.com has a scoop from producer Stephen L'Heureux of Solipsist Films, who says that Sin City 2 "will go into production in the second half of 2010." But how sure is he? He also confirmed that this sequel would be co-directed by Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez (thankfully, considering The Spirit was awful). Does this mean Sin City 2 may actually, finally, start shooting next year? Who knows?
In addition to that update, L'Heureux also talked briefly about adapting Frank Miller's Hard Boiled, his Dark Horse comic series from the early 90s. Apparently Miller is working on the screenplay for that right now and attached to direct as well. "We're still developing it. We got the project in turnaround from Warner Bros and Frank. It's such a pleasure to work with someone like Frank Miller. He's so smart and passionate about story at all levels from 1940s noir pulp to modern film," L'Heureux said. But all of that doesn't matter if he can't direct on his own worth a shit. And without Rodriguez, Miller just can't seem to hold his own.
So when, if ever, will we see Frank Miller's Hard Boiled? Well, L'Heureux answers that question by looping back around to Sin City. "With Sin City just on the horizon I don't think we'd be able to do it with Frank right away. As simple as Sin City seems, it's a very complex scheduling with all these actors and it's a very demanding shoot to be on a sound stage all day long," L'Heureux explains. "We have to space it for Frank. There's also talk, of course, of Sin City 3." So while reigniting the rumors about Sin City 2, he also starts up rumors about Sin City 3. One at a time, Stephen, let's get at least one sequel made first! Will it happen?

No thanks. Sin City 2 should have been made when the making was good. It missed it's time, and now should never be.

oh please…every single one of you will be in line to watch this opening day. did you pass on rush hour 3 after it took them forever after rush hour 2 to make? or what about any other sequel that takes awhile…No, you didn't. you'll be there and I'll be there.

There are a lot more interesting comics to be made. I agree, it missed it's time. But with Rodriguez, you never know. Could be awesome again.

"It missed it's time" - What a load of garbage. That has to be one of the stupidest reasons to not make a movie.
Sin City 2 could be wonderful, or it could suck, it depends on whether they make a movie worth seeing or not.
But making the sequel in 2009 or 2010 or 2011 doesn't matter.

It hasn't missed its time. Sin City is Miller's, and considering the noir style, and almost disconnected stories, you can make these every 10 years for the next century, and it wouldnt get old. Only problem with that is the actors, and of course I'm exaggerating, but my point is there is no window for this kind of film in terms of sequels. Do it whenever.

"Missed it time"? Um… Did the sequel to Back to the Future miss it's time being made 10 years after it's original predecessor? These yahoo's will be in line to see Sin City 2 at the midnight showing.

spirit was shite the only thing good in the spirit was the fucking very sexy women, sin city 2 has to be made by rodriguez and not miller, miller is a great writer not a great director, all the graphic novels are there so it should be pretty easy to make.

i'd go see it. the first one is classic
also, I didn't think the spirit was that bad. The problem with it was that frank miller shot it as he would be presenting it in a comic book which didn't translate well unless you read his comic books

Whatever, ya'll. A Sin City 2 released in 2012 will feel gimmicky and played out. Look how terrible The Spirit did, which was basically Sin City 2.

Timing doesn't and shouldn't matter when it comes to making a perfect movie. Its taken time to work out all the bugs and get everything just right. Why push something that isn't ready? I'm glad they've stalled it. I don't want another Transformers 2. 'Nuff said.

The Spirit was not Sin City 2. Visually yes, but as a flick Frank Miller will tell you he wanted it extremely campy and self parody. Something it should never be, and something Sin City will never be.

The Spirit wasn't awful, don't be retarded alex. It didn't do well, no one got it, and critics go like dominos, but it was camp on purpose, and everyone I know who is actually a fan of Miller and not just movies enjoyed it.
