Adrien Brody to Star in Robert Rodriguez' Predators Reboot!
Instead of bringing on an Austrian body builder, producer Robert Rodriguez and director Nimrod Antal have decided to bring on Oscar winning actor Adrien Brody to star in their Predators reboot. The news comes straight from THR's Heat Vision blog, where they also report that Alice Braga (I Am Legend), Mahershalalhashbaz Ali ("The 4400"), Walt Goggins ("The Shield"), UFC fighter Oleg Taktarov, and Danny Trejo (confirming the rumors) have all been cast in Predators as well. Shooting will take place in Hawaii starting later this year. Rodriguez will also be overseeing the project at his Troublemaker Studios in Austin.

First Official Trailer for Oren Moverman's The Messenger
Oscilloscope has just debuted the official trailer for The Messenger today on Apple, not to be confused with the Joan of Arc movie The Messenger or that horror movie The Messengers. I'm sorry but Iraq war movies, unless they're The Hurt Locker, are just boring to see nowadays. Hell, the concept in this is even the same exact concept as in Brothers -- well, they're close enough. And I have a feeling neither of them are going to make any money. They're both going to come and go quickly because most of us just don't want to see these kinds of movies anymore. So why are they still making them? I'm not sure. Check out the trailer.

The Flash Movie Rights Reeled Back into DC Entertainment
Barely a month ago, following Disney's purchase of Marvel, Warner Bros decided to create a new company called DC Entertainment Inc. that would "fully realize the power and value of the DC Comics brand and characters across all media and platforms." The new company would start reeling in projects that were in development with various producers so that they could develop them all under one house. We heard a few weeks later that there were no plans for Superman yet, but one franchise we haven't heard about recently is The Flash. IGN talked with producer Charles Roven and learned that his rights were recently reeled in, too.

Paranormal's Oren Peli Headed to Area 51 for His Next Film
You may or not may not know that big breakout horror hit Paranormal Activity actually had a writer and director (or at least, Paramount didn't want you to know that when everyone was out seeing it). His name is Oren Peli (you can find his own YouTube page here) and he's already started working on his follow-up to Paranormal, since that actually was shot three years ago in his own home. His follow-up is called Area 51 and is another "found footage" feature like Paranormal or Cloverfield. Based on that title alone, you should know where this one is headed, but if not, we have a brief little plot description that he's put out today.

Official Poster for Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day Unveiled
More goodies for all the hardcore Boondock Saints fans out there. MTV has debuted the official poster for the sequel we thought we'd never see - Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day. It's not an exact copy, but it looks strikingly similar to the original Boondock Saints poster seen here (at least with the two guys holding guns). Obviously they're trying to get everyone who even saw the original to take an interest in the sequel. And if they keep promoting it that way, they may turn this into another cult classic. That is, if it's actually a good movie. Sean Patrick Flanery, Norman Reedus, Billy Connolly and David Della Rocco are all returning.

Four New Actors Join Gregg Araki's Sexy Indie 'Kaboom'
Teens and sex are usually a winning combination whether it's raunchy comedy or steamy romance. Whether it's American Pie or Cruel Intentions (is it obvious I'm perpetually stuck in the late 90's?), teens and sex will bring in the young crowds. Hopefully this trend will apply to the upcoming indie Kaboom, a story about "the sexual awakening of a group of college students." THR reports that actors Roxane Mesquida (in her American feature debut), Thomas Dekker (of Fox's "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles"), Kelly Lynch (of Showtime's "The L Word") and Rooney Mara (Tanner Hall) will be joining the sexy indie.

Tarantino Might Direct a Western or a Gangster Movie Next
With Inglourious Basterds crossing $117 million total at the box office, it definitely seems like Quentin Tarantino is riding high again on the success of one of his movies, considering Grindhouse bombed just a few years back. The next big question is what he will end up directing next. Last week Tarantino spoke in Italy about the potential return of Kill Bill Vol. 3 but didn't exactly give as solid of a promise as he did with Basterds on a talk show at Cannes two years ago. However, Variety has a very brief update from Tarantino straight from the Morelia Film Festival in Mexico, where he says there's more than just that in the works.

Mark Wahlberg to Star in the 'Reykjavik-Rotterdam' Remake
Mark Wahlberg has signed on to star in Reykjavik-Rotterdam, a remake of an Icelandic thriller that has been set up at Working Title, according to THR tonight. The original film, directed by Óskar Jónasson, was released in 2008. Baltasar Kormakur, who produced and starred in the original, is attached to direct the English-language remake. And Aaron Guzikowski, who wrote the spec script Prisoners, is writing the new remake script. The plot centers on a security guard and former alcohol smuggler on the Iceland-Netherlands route who is tempted back into illicit business by a dubious friend after encountering financial problems.

Second Full French Trailer for Jacques Audiard's A Prophet
Although Sony Pictures Classics has been touring around the film festival circuit with A Prophet, they haven't otherwise started marketing it to the public. I've seen it twice now at two different festivals and it still is one of my favorite films of the entire year (read my review). After its debut at Cannes, we featured a very short teaser for the film. Now we have another full-length trailer (via Awards Daily), but unfortunately it's still only in French without English subtitles. A Prophet also just got accepted to AFI Fest in November, where I'm sure it'll gain even more Oscar buzz. Give this new trailer a shot even if you don't speak French.

Kevin Smith Wants Wil Wheaton in His New Hockey Drama?
Back in May of this year, Kevin Smith revealed that he wants to make a hockey drama/comedy based on a song called "Hit Somebody (The Hockey Song)" by Warren Zevon (listen here). As time has passed since May, he's started to talk about it more and more in Q&As and online, and it may end up becoming his very next project following the buddy cop comedy A Couple of Dicks which he's now editing for Warner Brothers. Our friends at Collider recently dug up two updates on Hit Somebody, the first from a Huffington Post profile on Smith, the other from a random Twitter update from Smith as well. Read on for details on both!

Two More New Action Photos from Neil Marshall's Centurion
There's not much else worth checking out today, so I thought I'd write about these two new photos found in the latest issue of Empire that are from Neil Marshall's new movie Centurion. We've written about this movie a few times before and are still waiting for a trailer, but in the meantime, these two photos do look pretty badass. Centurion is an epic action adventure film set in 117 AD about a group of Roman soldiers who must fight for their lives behind enemy lines after their legion is decimated in a devastating guerrilla attack. This stars Michael Fassbender, Dominic West, Noel Clarke, David Morrisey, JJ Feild, and Olga Kurylenko.

Stellan Skarsgard Joins the Cast of Kenneth Branagh's Thor
Way back before we knew that Chris Hemsworth had been cast to play Thor, one of the originally rumored candidates for the role was Alexander Skarsgard (who is currently on "True Blood"), the son of more well known actor Stellan Skarsgard. According to a report from ComingSoon (that comes from a translation of a Swedish write-up via TT Spektra in Sweden), Stellan Skarsgard revealed that he has joined the cast of Kenneth Branagh's Thor in a role that he can't yet reveal. Stellan is still an incredibly talented actor and I gained even more respect for him after Pirates of the Caribbean (where he played Will Turner's father).
