Might Tobe Hooper Return for More Texas Chainsaw Massacre?
Should the father return home once again? It was announced a few weeks back that Twisted Pictures, the company behind Saw, had acquired the film rights to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise from Platinum Dunes. Twisted is planning to create a new 3D film in the series that would be a contemporary reboot, throwing aside the recent two films that Platinum Dunes made and continuing on with a sequel to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 4. Now ShockTillYouDrop is saying that the creator of the series, filmmaker Tobe Hooper, is apparently considering returning and that he's even been talking with the new owners.

Stallone is Going to Make Rocky 7 After Finishing Rambo 5
Damn you Sly Stallone! There's a story making its way around the web right now that features a few new quotes from Sylvester Stallone that say that he just announced that he'll be going back to playing Rocky Balboa yet again in Rocky 7. Apparently Stallone was talking with Tele 5 in Germany and the quotes ended up online at places like TeenSay.co.uk (via SlashFilm). We already know that Sly is now finishing up The Expendables, due for release next August, and got a greenlight from Nu Image to make Rambo 5 next year. If all this is to be believed, then he'll follow that up yet with Rocky 7, presumably in late 2010 or early 2011.

Mad Max 4: Fury Road Confirmed, Budget of $100 Million!
This is the weekend that Mad Max is making its return. Yesterday morning a rumor hit saying that Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy were director George Miller's top choices to star in Mad Max 4. Later in the day, THR published a story confirming that Mad Max 4, now officially titled Fury Road, was actually already ready to go into production in Sydney and in New South Wales next year. They did not confirm any of the actors, but did mention that the budget would be close to $100 million, despite having no studio funding or backing for the project. That is some impressive indie financing. Obviously the locals rule in Australia.

Justin Theroux Producing an Air Guitar Feature for Paramount
Now this sounds like a very fun project. Earlier in the week it was announced (via the Risky Biz Blog) that actor/writer Justin Theroux (who last produced Tropic Thunder) would be signing on to produce Air Guitar, a story set in the competitive world of air guitar. The comedy was originally based on and inspired by the popular documentary Air Guitar Nation and the book To Air Is Human written by Dan Crane, who plays under the name Bjorn Turoque. Paramount has now brought on up-and-coming writers Mike Lisbe and Nate Reger ("Just Shoot Me!", "Teachers") to pen the script with Theroux producing and developing.

Another Great New Trailer for The Men Who Stare at Goats
Overture Films has debuted a second new trailer today (on YouTube) for The Men Who Stare at Goats starring George Clooney and Ewan McGregor. Although I didn't like this movie at all (I saw it back at the Toronto Film Festival), I will continue to support it. Overture knows how to cut one hell of a trailer and the first one and this one are both great trailers. But be warned, they're a bit deceptive, as this isn't the all-out comedy you're probably expecting it to be. It's not a terrible movie by any means, Clooney and McGregor actually do a good job, it's just not that funny at all. But that's just my opinion, so check it out and enjoy!

Wes Craven Getting Much Closer to Directing Scream 4 in 3D?
We haven't heard too much big news recently on the Scream 4 front, most likely because writer Kevin Williamson is finishing the script, and the studio is still trying to figure things out before moving forward. However, Bloody-Disgusting has posted a very interesting update today, saying that they've heard that The Weinstein Company is looking to make Scream 4 in 3D. Of course. It sounds like the studio's saving grace is 3D. Additionally, they say "Wes Craven is closer than ever to returning to the director's chair." There was also a rumor earlier this week that he was 100% signed on, but I'm waiting to hear that from TWC first.

Rumor: DiCaprio & Maguire Are Remaking The Third Man?
Another rumor to chew over this fine Friday afternoon. CHUD is reporting that Canal+ from France is gearing up to remake Carol Reed's 1949 classic The Third Man that starred Orson Welles and Bernard Lee. Apparently none other than Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire are already cast and helping develop the project. While they say it doesn't have a director yet, the screenplay is being written by Steven Knight, of Dirty Pretty Things and Eastern Promises. Sounds like a lot of great talent, but of course, is a remake of The Third Man even necessary or desired? It's a true noir classic that really can't be topped.

Mastodon Explains How Exactly They Came to Score Jonah Hex
Do you remember the news that heavy metal band Mastodon would be scoring the Jonah Hex movie? Yea, I'm still a bit bewildered by that, but it's being cleared up today, finally. Paste (via SlashFilm) just did an interview with Mastodon recently and got the full story, including that they're not dropping any all-out heavy metal tracks into the movie, but rather recording instrumental songs that will be integrated into the score, similar to how Linkin Park worked with Steve Jablonsky for the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen score. It's actually kind of fascinating to hear and I'm much more excited to hear their score knowing this.

Jeff Smith's Bone Comic Might See Three Movies from WB
More than a year ago we reported that Warner Bros had picked up rights to Jeff Smith's independent comic Bone. Not much has happened since then, but Comic Book Resources (via SlashFilm) has a report from Jeff Smith's appearance at the Alternative Press Expo (APE) in San Francisco this last weekend. Good news is that he's "very happy with the progress so far" but no release date has been set yet. Although he did also go on to say that they'll probably end up making not one, but three films based off of Bone. The only other question Smith was asked was if it was a big decision to do a CGI movie instead of a 2D hand-drawn one.

First Official High Res Look at Joe Carnahan's The A-Team
Man this photo is contrasty! A few weeks back we brought you the very first spy shot of the four members of The A-Team shooting in in Canada (and the first photo of the van roaming around as well). Now we have the actual first official photo from Fox for Joe Carnahan's The A-Team for your viewing pleasure. It was sent over to us by the SalonDelMal blog, but it's popping up everywhere, so I'm sure you find it anywhere. I've gotta say, from the looks of it, they really did choose a perfect cast for this. They all look badass and they're all pretty damn talented too (except Quinton Jackson?). Anyway, take a look at the big full photo below!

Laeta Kalogridis Writing DreamWorks' Ghost in the Shell 3D
Some news today on the anime front. Variety is reporting that DreamWorks has hired screenwriter Laeta Kalogridis to adapt the Ghost in the Shell manga into a futuristic live-action 3D police thriller. It was first discovered that DreamWorks, under Steven Spielberg's supervision, would be bringing this anime to life on the big screen in 3D more than a year ago. Jamie Moss (Street Kings) was originally hired to write the first draft, but now Kalogridis is taking over. Avi Arad, Ari Arad and Steven Paul of Seaside Entertainment are attached to produce, but Spielberg isn't named any more. I really hope she knows what she'd doing!

Anne Hathaway and NPH Providing Voices for Blue Sky's Rio
We don't always report on voice casting for animated movies, but this one sounds interesting. Blue Sky Studios' next feature film is called Rio, about a nerdy macaw who breaks out of his small-town Minnesota cage and heads to the exotic Summer Olympic city of Rio de Janeiro. Fox has cast Anne Hathaway, Neil Patrick Harris and Rodrigo Santoro as the voice talent for the film in order for it to be ready for an April, 2011 release. Brazilian-born Carlos Saldanha, who has been developing the project for years and who also directed most of Blue Sky's films including Ice Age 1 through 3 and Robots, will be directing Rio.
