First Short Teaser Trailer for Nic Cage's Season of the Witch
Another Halloween-specific trailer has hit today. Lionsgate has debuted a short teaser for Season of the Witch starring Nicolas Cage over on IGN. You may remember hearing about this movie already because we featured some photos from it last year. This teaser is only 30 seconds long, but it gives us a glimpse at the tone and style and a bit of the creepy story, which involves Cage taking that sweet young witch seen in the beginning to be killed (or something like that). It doesn't look bad but I guess it just doesn't look that good either. Not sure why, maybe it's Cage's hair, maybe it's the horrific tone, or the weird creatures. Thoughts?

Ewan McGregor Calls Roman Polanski a 'Completely Brilliant Director'
It's been a while, nearly a month, since we last heard about anything major regarding Roman Polanski's continued imprisonment after his arrest in Switzerland back in September. The LA Times recently sat down with Ewan McGregor, the star of Polanski's now interrupted film The Ghost, in order to talk with him about his role and his experience with Polanski. "He's also got quite a brusque manner, so you have to have a thick skin. That said, I'm very fond of him. He's one of the very few completely brilliant directors that I've worked with. There aren't really very many, I have to say, or it's a shame to say," McGregor revealed.

TMNT Global Rights Picked Up By Nickelodeon/Paramount
It was announced this morning that Nickelodeon has acquired global rights to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise from The Mirage Group / 4Kids Entertainment for roughly $60 million. Nickelodeon also announced plans to develop a new CG-animated television series based on the popular superhero franchise, anticipated to premiere in 2012. Additionally, in partnership with Viacom's Paramount Pictures, a release of a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles feature film is also planned for 2012. New Line previously released the originally three live-action TMNT films and Warner Brothers released the recent CGI movie from 2007.

Must Watch: Second Trailer for Joe Johnston's The Wolfman!
Just in time for Halloween, Universal has debuted a second new trailer for Joe Johnston's The Wolfman on Apple. This trailer is considerably different from the first trailer from July, featuring less dialogue, one contemporary rock song running throughout, and a focus more on the monster and the intensity (and less on the story). I just really hope this is going to be rated R in the end, because after watching this trailer, I want as intense of a frickin' Wolfman movie as I can get. Considering I've loved just about every movie that Hugo Weaving has been in as well, I expect to love this one, too. Anyway, check out the new trailer below!

Cillian Murphy Says Chris Nolan's Inception is Very Complex
In order to respect the filmmaker's wishes and to maintain the integrity of the film itself, I've decided to no longer post any story or spoiler details surrounding Christopher Nolan's Inception, which is due out next July. However, I am not opposed to running more teaser tidbits and quotes, like these today that come from both MTV and Empire, especially because they only make the film even more mysterious. MTV talked with Cillian Murphy and Empire talked with Michael Caine, who are both in the film in roles that we don't yet know much about (and neither were shown in the teaser trailer). You've got to hear what they each said.

Marvel's Joe Quesada on Captain America: 'It's Going to Rock'
There's actually more to his quote than just that, but we'll get to that. As a reminder, Joe Quesada is the Editor-in-Chief of Marvel Comics. Essentially, he's the head honcho of the comics division who has a good say on the movie side of things as well (since he knows all of the characters so well). Quesada recently appeared at a panel at the Big Apple Comic-Con and Comic Book Resources was there to cover his talk. If you're a fan of comics as well, the entire update is worth reading, but I'm specifically pulling out his small update on The First Avenger: Captain America. He doesn't say anything new, but it's a good quote.

Stephen Norrington's The Crow Remake is Moving Forward?
Nearly a year ago, it was officially announced that Stephen Norrington, of the train wreck that was The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, would be returning to directing after some 5 years to remake Alex Proyas' The Crow. Considering the history surrounding that film, fans were in an uproar, but Norrington insisted it was his passion project. We haven't heard anything since then, but Mania.com has an update from a "source close to the production" who tells them that Norrington has turned in a script to Relativity Media and that it was "very well received." With that approval, it's now moving forward into the casting stage.

Ridley Scott and Angelina Jolie May Be Making 'Gucci' Next
Every day the trades announce new projects to be tacked on to ever-growing project lists for already busy actors, writers, directors and producers. Case in point, director Ridley Scott has an already intimidating roster that includes 14 projects currently in development, 8 producing credits, at least 2 upcoming directing jobs and his most recent film, a new take on the classic Robin Hood tale, in post-production. Both Variety and EW report that Scott is return to another project called Gucci, a drama "about murder and decadence in the Gucci fashion dynasty" with Angelina Jolie being the most likely candidate for a femme fatale role.

Sin Nombre's Cary Fukunaga Directing New Jane Eyre Adaptation
If you were lucky enough to see Sin Nombre earlier this year, you're probably now as a big of a supporter of director Cary Fukunaga as anyone else is who saw it. Variety reports that Fukunaga is next set to direct a feature adaptation Charlotte Bronte's seminal novel "Jane Eyre" first published in 1847. We've already seen numerous adaptations of the book over the years, including most recently the Charlotte Gainsbourg-starring version from 1996. Up-and-coming British screenwriter Moira Buffini, of the Tamara Drewe adaptation, wrote this script. Fukunaga's version will focus on the more gothic elements of the classic 19th century story.

Three More Actors Join Political Drama The Whistleblower
At the risk of sounding uneducated, I'll admit only within the past couple years did I become aware of the term "whistleblower" as well as the sort of subgenre in drama focusing on the brave characters who dare to take down powerful people and organizations. Variety reports that Monica Belluci (Shoot 'Em Up), David Strathairn (The Bourne Ultimatum) and Vanessa Redgrave (Venus) are joining Rachel Weisz (The Brothers Bloom) in the true story of a policewoman who uncovers an international scandal in a film called, aptly, The Whistleblower. The film is a Canadian-German co-production in partnership with Barry Films.

New Full-Length TV Trailer for Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes
We haven't really seen new footage from Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes since the first trailer debuted way back in May, but that changes today. TheMovieBox has premiered a new TV trailer for Sherlock Holmes (as in, shown on TV, not in theaters). It's two minutes long and it definitely contains a lot of great footage we haven't seen before. The closer we get to December, the more excited I get for this. And this new trailer definitely gets my blood pumpin'. It looks like it has a great mix of action and intensity as well as comedy. Warner Brothers may have the next Pirates of the Caribbean on their hands! Check out the trailer below.

Willem Dafoe is Playing a 9-Foot Tall Alien in John Carter of Mars
We've known that Willem Dafoe had been cast in Andrew Stanton's John Carter of Mars since July, so that's not the news here today, but the actor talked with both AICN and MTV recently and revealed a lot of interesting details about his character and the project. While the debate over whether James Cameron's Avatar will be a success or not still wages on, it seems the movie has already inspired other big Hollywood productions, including this one. Without seeing anything it's hard to know exactly what it'll look like, but it sounds like Stanton is working on the next Avatar-like sci-fi epic with 9-foot tall aliens and CGI characters.
