Indie Trailer Sunday: Zhang Yimou's Amazing Tales: Three Guns

This trailer is only for hardcore fans of Zhang Yimou (Hero, House of Flying Daggers) and those who don't need any English subtitles! Twitch has dug up the first trailer for Zhang Yimou's Amazing Tales: Three Guns, his remake of the Coen Brothers' first film Blood Simple. It may not have subtitles yet, but it looks quite fun anyway. And its got everything you'd expect from a Coen Brothers remake - double-crossings, cheating, lying, death, and plenty of good humor. I'm actually looking forward to this, even if it looks a bit wacky, primarily because it's Zhang Yimou and he always delivers very visually stunning films. Check it out!
Watch the first trailer for Zhang Yimou's Amazing Tales: Three Guns (in Mandarin):
Set at a noodle shop in the middle of the desert in Gansu Province, Ni Dahong plays a stingy tavern owner who hires Sun Honglei's character to kill his wife (Yan) and the waiter she slept with (Xiao Shenyang).
Amazing Tales: Three Guns (aka San qiang pai an jing qi) is directed by prolific Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yimou, who created the 2008 Summer Olympics opening ceremony and directed Jet Li's Hero and House of Flying Daggers previously. The screenplay was co-written by Jianquan Shi and Jing Shang and is a remake of the Coen Brothers' very first film Blood Simple. This hits theaters in China in December of this year. Sony Pictures Classics will eventually be bringing Amazing Tales: Three Guns to US theaters sometime in 2010.

The voiceover was bizarre but are you really gonna decide whether or not to watch something because of the trailer voiceover?
