Morgan Freeman & Peter Segal are Warner Bros' Dirty Old Men
November 2, 2009
by Alex Billington
So that rumor about Peter Segal directing The Jetsons might not be entirely true or maybe it's just delayed? THR announced today that Warner Bros has picked up an "untitled comedy spec" written by Josh Cagan (Bandslam) and Greg Coolidge (Employee of the Month) originally titled Dirty Old Men, with Peter Segal eyeing to direct and Morgan Freeman attached to star. The story revolves around an aging playboy who finally meets the love of his life, while his best friend and wingman for the past 40 years does everything to break up the new couple. The tone is described as similar to Wedding Crashers and 40-Year-Old Virgin.
Here's the good news for those who kept reading. The studio really, really wants Jack Nicholson to reteam with Morgan Freeman since they last starred together in The Bucket List which made Warner Bros a good $93 million. THR says that "Nicholson is not attached to the project but is aware of it." Dirty Old Men was originally created by the writers and brought to Revelations Entertainment, which is where Segal joined and helped develop further before they brought it to Warner Bros. It sounds like it could be a pretty damn fun project if it gets the greenlight, with or without Jack Nicholson even. At least they've got Morgan Freeman!
