Amy Heckerling Taking on a Romantic Comedy with Vampires

With all the complaining and frustration I've expressed with adaptations and remakes in recent news, I'm even more disgusted by anymore projects dealing with vampires. However, a part of me is curious about ScreenDaily's recent announcement that Amy Heckerling (of Clueless) is working on a romantic comedy with vampires aptly titled Vamps, a story that focuses on two young female vampires living the good life in New York until love enters the picture and each has to make a choice that will jeopardize their immortality. As long as the vampires aren't glittering, emo-hipster sissies, then we should be good to go on this one.
Krysten Ritter (last seen in Confessions of a Shopaholic) will be one of the vampires with additional casting underway and Parlay Films hoping to start production in March 2010 with Ben Stiller's Red Hour Films producing. I'll admit that the premise isn't all that engaging, but a comedic take on vampires might be just what the doctor ordered with all the melodramatic and erotic vampire stories following in The Twilight Saga's footsteps and ruining vampires for everyone who isn't a 16 year old girl (damn them!).
If there's one director that can do this right, it's Amy Heckerling. She has a gift with capturing the voice of a generation (if you're not convinced see Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Clueless back-to-back and you'll understand) so I think she's got the right style to bring some life to the already tired, overexposed concept of modern vampires. As soon as the cast is rounded out we'll let you know, so stay tuned!

twilight ruined vampire lore, and the only thing that is actully pretty close to vamp lore is True Blood, Bram Stoker is turning in his grave!
I mean Amy Heckerling is awesome, so I'll give it a chance

I am sick to death of this Teen Vampire shit, all these films jumping on the band wagon after Twilight sutch as circus de freeks vampire assistant, twilight 2 a new moon. there just shit not scary, not watchable there demagrade is teens and that it.

Amy Heckerling is a female film director who has helmed such films as Clueless and Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
The Alicia Silverstone picture is there to correlate with my feelings on the overexposure of vampires and also help you relate to Amy Heckerling's films.
