Guillermo del Toro Says He'll Appear in The Hobbit as a Creature

Although we just ran a big update from Guillermo del Toro on all things The Hobbit last week, we have yet another interesting, and pretty damn cool, update to feature today. Over on The One Ring forums (via SlashFilm), someone translated an interview with del Toro where he said: "In The Hobbit I will play a small monster. I will transform myself in a small creature, not an important monster, just a 'background' type." Awesome! Does this mean Peter Jackson will reprise his role as a pirate as well? Who knows. Del Toro also went on to explain exactly what he's doing with the creature (so it doesn't get all blown out of proportion).
I had a hand on the design of the creature and I will personally sculpt the appliances that will be applied on my face and hands. I used to sculpt the creatures for NECROPIA (my FX company) and I miss it a bit.
I will have a line or two and die quickly.
I love that this news is already out there, because I know fans will be excitedly looking for that appearance. Although if he's covered under layers of make-up and a mask, we may never know which creature he actually was! Either way, I love that The Hobbit is gaining crazy early hype like this, just because I'm also excited. In related news, The One Ring also has a report that says they'll shoot in a studio for the first six months and not on-location. That must be because Guillermo's approach is slightly different than Jackson's. Either way, I'm still always excited to hear about The Hobbit, and whatever weird random bits of news it may be!

sweet, I remember seeing Jackson in the second LOTR as the guy who throws the spear as the uruk hai's are attacking the gate, the character met his fate by the uruk face punch, so Del Toro doing it wil lbe sweet, and hopefully jackson will too!

I presume this means he'll be playing a goblin, who'll then be killed by either Gandalf or Thorin.
Given that the Corsairs of Umbar only appear in Return of the King, I don't think PJ will be playing a pirate again. I do see him having a cameo though.

PJ was also a drunk in Fellowship, as the Hobbits enter that village/Inn. Think he burps? Also, think there's 2 versions, 1 he's holding a bottle or beer, the other a carrot
PJ has been a burping drunk before, in Braindead/Dead Alive
