Mad Men Creator Matthew Weiner's First Feature Film Delayed

Matthew Weiner (creator of AMC's "Mad Men") has made no secret of his desire to jump from television to feature films. Back when he was still working on "The Sopranos" for HBO, he wrote a script for a romantic comedy entitled You Are Here. Weiner quickly found independent financing and a more than decent start to a cast with Jennifer Aniston, Bradley Cooper and Zach Galifianakis all attached. But it looks like he'll have to wait a few years as Variety reports issues with the timetable for production on "Mad Men's" fourth season has forced a postponement of the project, with a hope of starting it back up sometime in 2011.
Just to clear things up, You Are Here is separate from a blind feature commitment that Lionsgate made to Weiner as part of his two-season renewal of "Mad Men" in January. Weiner said he's "just starting to kick around ideas" with Lionsgate execs for that project, which he will write and direct. As a huge "Mad Men" fan, I can't wait to see what Weiner does in the feature film arena. His simple visuals and engaging writing make for great television and I hope his talents transfer well to a bigger screen. We'll let you know when we hear more about You Are Here or any other feature film projects Weiner gets involved in in the meantime.
