Alice in Wonderland's Mia Wasikowska in Talks for Jane Eyre

Just last month we keyed you in on an adaptation of Charlotte Bronte's seminal novel Jane Eyre to be helmed by Cary Fukunaga, director of the buzzed about foreign film Sin Nombre, starting next year. Now Variety reports that Mia Wasikowska (Defiance) and Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds) are in negotiations to star in the film scripted by Moira Buffini. Numerous adaptations precede it, but this new version, along with being a period piece, will play up the gothic elements of the story about Jane, a demure governess who discovers her surly employer Rochester (Fassbender) is harboring a dark secret. Read on!
Wasikowska is sure to bring more attention to the adaptation of this iconic British novel after audiences catch her as the titular Alice in Wonderland in Tim Burton's fantastical adaptation of yet another classic piece of literature being released next March. The actress has slowly built a name for herself, and has even caught the attention of director Gus Van Sant who has cast her in his upcoming untitled teen angst driven drama. Fassbender on the other hand will also be gaining more attention as he is stars the upcoming comic book adaptation Jonah Hex. Period pieces like this don't really grab my attention, but with these up-and-coming actors taking part in the follow-up film for Cary Fukunaga, it just might be worth a look. Agreed?

Maybe Mia Wasikowskais the next big thing among literatury adaptations what's next, another adaptation of Emma?
Defiance was alright, her and Jamie Bell make a nice couple.
What if she was in a huge number of action flicks in the future? Do any of you young lads out there think she's more of a hottie than Megan Fox?

She's too pretty. Jane is plain - bordering unattractive.
That's the problem with a lot of adaptations - the actresses chosen are far too pretty to be playing the heroine they portray.
