Touching Story of Man & His Dog Nubs Heading to Theaters

If Marley & Me proved anything (other than some people are just mean-spirited), it's that audiences still love man's best friend on the big screen, no matter how heart-wrenching the story. Now Warner Bros is banking on a feel-good dog story as THR reports they have picked up the rights to Nubs, for writer Justin Zackham (The Bucket List) to tell the story of a stray dog that Major Brian Dennis rescued while on a tour of duty on the front lines in Iraq. After nursing the dog back to health and caring for it as his own, he had him shipped back to the US to be reunited with the dog when his tour ended. Truly heart-warming, indeed.
Along with Dennis' life rights, the story as chronicled in the children's book Nubs: A Marine, a Mutt and a Miracle, was purchased after making the rounds on talk shows like "Today," "The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien" and "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." Despite being a feel-good film, apparently it still has elements in common with Marley & Me with a focus on complicated relationships between humans - and complicated relationships between humans and their dogs. As Zackham says, "It's a story that parents can take their kids to but that adults can also go to and appreciate. It's one of those movies that everyone can take something from." Hopefully I won't want to take back my admission price like I did after I saw The Bucket List. Zing!

I saw this guy and his dog on The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien like two weeks ago. I figured they'd make a movie out of it sooner or later.

And yes, "Marley & Me" was a truly awful film.

Actually, I'm a dog fanatic. And I know you were kidding. But seriously, I have three dogs at the moment. And they are my my pet preference. But "Marley" was o.k. at best as a book. The movie was excruciating.

This year theres been a few dogs here in Australia that have been mutilated and had their ears hacked off, I just can't fathom why someone would do that.
