Neve Campbell Says Wes Craven Will Be Returning for Scream 4
November 24, 2009
by Ethan Anderton
These days franchises are getting rebooted and remade left and right, but for one particular popular horror franchise, it's going to pick up right where it left off. We've known about a Scream 4 (and a potential new trilogy) for quite some time now (hell, there's even a teaser poster out there despite still having no script out to actors), as well as the return of franchise veterans Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, David Arquette, and writer Kevin Williamson. In a new interview with Campbell on Black Book (via SlashFilm), she reveals that director Wes Craven is pretty much attached to revisit the Ghostface Killer in this fourthcoming sequel.
Campbell said: "I’m pretty sure at this stage that Wes [Craven] is back on board to direct and Kevin [Willamson] is definitely writing it…so it is going to be great."
Her being pretty sure could just be conjecture at this point. Though if anybody would know, it' probably be Campbell or one of the other principal returning cast members. Honestly, this is one of the deal-breakers to maintain my interest in revisiting the franchise. Though these slasher films always had a certain tongue-in-cheek element to them, it started getting ridiculous towards the end of the trilogy and essentially became just like the horror films they were subtly roasting. Of course that downhill run was under the helm of Wes Craven, but there's a chance he's got a fresh approach to a new trilogy. We'll see what happens, but for now I'll remain cautiously optimistic. Does Craven's return make or break your interest in this sequel as well?

how many more Reboots Scream had it trillogy it was runing out of steam then, so why revisite it, its just Desperation.
I mean lets face it the original scream trillogy was just story using qouts from other horror movies and a bit of hack and slash then it became aparadie of it self.

i don't see anything wrong with the return of the Scream franchise. frankly i've been awaiting the 4th installment for a while now. but hopefully Craven does return to direct because if he does i'll make sure i'm at the theater opening day.
