The Goon Animated Movie is Waiting for Fincher to Continue

The Goon is a movie I've been anxious to see ever since the first test shots arrived in March. It's a feature adaptation of Eric Powell's cult comic The Goon about the adventures of a muscle-bound brawler, and his sidekick Franky, who claims to be the primary enforcer for the feared mobster Labrazio, yet often gets tied up in other schemes usually involving the evil zombie gangs under the command of the Nameless Zombie Priest. Although it's already in production, it's "a slow, long process" and apparently they're stuck waiting for David Fincher to finish shooting The Social Network, since he's the big head honcho on the project.
Powell talked recently with Comic Book Resources (via Bloody-Disgusting) about the status of The Goon.
"I just finished writing the script a few months back, and Blur is working on a lot of test stuff. Fincher is working on a film right now, so we're waiting for him to get some space so we can start showing some of this stuff off. I'm pretty happy with everything so far. We've just got to work to get to the next point. This is a slow, long process."
But why exactly are they waiting? Powell wouldn't confirm whether he'd be directing or just producing, but did say, "David's going to be heavily involved. I've worked with him and Blur quite a bit to get the screenplay together, and it's been a great experience so far." It's also been confirmed that Clancy Brown will voice the Goon and Paul Giamatti will voice his sidekick Franky. Those two were first mentioned during Comic-Con, where Powell originally said they were just "interested," but BD has confirmed they're officially on-board. Considering how excited I am for this, we'll be sure to keep you up-to-date on all the latest with The Goon.

Waiting on the guy making the Social Network…seriously? Move on, better off without him. How hard is it to write a movie about a rags to riches or "He's not that Into You" via social network which they touched on in that movie. Can't remember what you said it was about but can't imagine it's anything original or great.
