Indie Trailer Sunday: Matthew Broderick in Wonderful World

I don't know how Matthew Broderick lost all of his star power, but he's showing up in a lot of new indies recently. I still love the guy, but it's a little odd seeing him in so many of these. Apple recently debuted the trailer for Joshua Goldin's Wonderful World starring Matthew Broderick, Jodelle Ferland, and Michael K. Williams. It looks like a combination of The Visitor and Brothers, where an apathetic guy gets a taste of culture from a new housemate and starts to fall in love with her, too. It doesn't look bad, but it doesn't look that great either. I may check it out, because I like Broderick, but I'm not sure. What do you guys think?

A misanthropic divorcée and failed children's folk singer suddenly finds love despite his efforts against it.
Wonderful World is both written and directed by screenwriter-turned-director Joshua Goldin, who co-wrote the Darkman and Out on a Limb scripts previously. This first premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year and has played at a few other film festivals. It was shot in 2007 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Magnolia Pictures is bringing Wonderful World to limited theaters starting on January 8th, 2010 in a few months.

That is what I call a calm and steady movie !!! …
Sometimes people need to watch such movies after along addicted to action, explosion, blood, creatures movies

Seems like Broderick pulled a Cuba Gooding, had massive star power then somehow began to fade away, then start doing shitty kids movies/ B comedies until they are totally gone. Later we see them reappear in a variety of indie films.

it seems like the movie doesn't know what it's supposed to be. there's some humor; there's some drama; there's a love interest…………. i think it would have been better if they went with one type of film rather than try to mash together these different genres.
i do like broderick. i enjoyed him (and danny devito) in "deck the halls". it was good, light-hearted fun set at christmas time.

It was called "the Visitor" and it came out like two years ago. Richard Jenkins was great in it.

I for one hate Paking Nazi's that drive SUV's, I think a lot of them can't drive hence the reason they are such dicks.
I like the guy Ben already, Broderick looks pretty good in this.
I reckon it will have the negative life dip in the middle with an upwards positive life climb towards the last quarter which you sometimes need to view in a movie.

#6 It's a trailer, dude . That's what there suppose to give you, a sample of everything in the movie. The humor, the turmoil, the drama, it's all in there to let you know what you are in for.
I think this looks like a good movie for Broderick. I think it could be a nice indie movie for him to stretch his acting legs again.

I saw this at Tribeca earlier this year and thought it was great. Certainly worth seeing. Broderick is terrific in this role, one of his best. Great supporting cast as well. Its a combo of drama and comedy, both delivered impeccably by the entire cast. Great story with some great moments.
