Tarantino Says Kill Bill 3 Isn't Next & Will Have a Newer Title
November 30, 2009
by Alex Billington
We all saw this coming. Even though it was widely reported in early October that Quentin Tarantino had made a promise on an Italian talk show that "the Bride [would] fight again," it's not exactly going to be his next project. We can't forget that this is Tarantino, and he says these kind of things all the time and hypes up projects for years and years (just look how long it took Inglourious Basterds to get made). MTV talked with Tarantino recently and got him to clarify the situation regarding Kill Bill Vol. 3. "I won't do that next, but it could very well be the thing I do after next," Tarantino explained. So don't start getting excited yet.
Additionally, since the "Bill" that Beatrix Kiddo is after in Kill Bill gets what's coming to him in the end, it won't be titled Kill Bill Vol. 3 anyway. "Well, it wouldn't be Kill Bill obviously. It would be Volume 3 of the story of the Bride," Tarantino says. And as for all that speculation about it being ready next year, well don't get your hopes up. "There's no script, there are just ideas and notes," he says. "We're getting there, we're about one movie away." It's because he said he'd do the sequel in 10 years and since the last one came out in 2004, we're slowly reaching that 10 year mark. But it's probably not going to happen any earlier than that.
So while Kill Bill Vol. 3, or whatever it will eventually be called, is in the works and will happen sometime (probably by 2014), don't expect it anytime soon. As for what's next from Quentin Tarantino, maybe it's one of these two projects that he's hinted about - a western or a gangster movie. I sure hope we find out soon!

#4 - Tarrantino said after Kill Bill 2 came out that #3 would be about the Bride and it would take place roughly 10 years after the second one.
When asked why so long between movies, he reminded everyone that in the first movie The Bride told Vernita Green's daughter that if one day she wanted to seek revenge for the death of her mother, she wouldn't blame her. He suggested 10 years would give Vernita's daughter time to grow up and Thurman to look older which she would have to be.
Tarrantino also said in that same interview that he thought that it would be cool to do a reverse of #1, by having most of the movie done in anime and only a small section doing in live action.
As for Tarrantino’s movie, I’d think he would make a great Sam Peckinpah type of western.

giving time before a sequel is done is a good move-i think the first two were incomparably amazing, and to match their calibre would be a challenge.death proof and inglorious basterds were good, but to continue with vol 3. and not ruin the first two-he needs time to plan and think the shit through.

It took like a decade to make Inglourious Basterds, but he made it. Why exactly don't you think Tarantino will keep his word with Kill Bill vol. 3? He clearly keeps his word, even if it takes a while.
Gill on Dec 1, 2009

Keeps his word? Really? He does this all the time. Where is the Vega Brothers movie? Where is that Less Than Zero Remake? It’s all random stuff he feeds people from time to time.
SlashBeast on Dec 1, 2009

I love that you base your argument on stuff he hasn't done yet. Okay, no Vega Brothers movie…YET. Does that mean he'll never do it? See my last post about a movie he promised to make for TEN YEARS before actually making. Just because Kill Bill vol. 3 hasn't been made…YET!!!…doesn't mean it won't happen.

It's never going to happen. He's promised you loads of shit that's never come to fruition. He just likes cock teasing you to keep you sucking.
